I want to upgrade to 2 piston calipers. My question is.......

1 Are the rear calipers on the 2G FWD's 2 piston?

2 Will they fit on a 1G FWD

3 If they are not 2 piston or don't fit is there a 2 piston or stock caliper for the rear. (I get the impression that the rear calipers are the same as the fronts....is that the case?)

Just some info for my brake upgrade.

Thanks

I doubt the rears are 2 piston, although I've never played around with a 2G. Last I heard you couldn't put 2G brakes on either front or back of a 1G. There's very little reason for rears to be twin piston anyway, since they do very little work compared to the fronts. In fact, putting too much clamping force on the back will give scary braking effects.

I'd go for twin pistons in front first. I also believe 2G rears don't have a parking brake lever, so you'd lose that on your 1G even if they did fit.

So far I have found out that I have to get '93 and up AWD front calipers to get 2 piston.

What I don't know is are the ones you get at your freindly neighborhood parts store 2 piston. I know the stock ones are. No one localy stocks them and I would have to put a deposite to even get a look at one.

IF you order calipers for a 93+ AWD front, you will get 2 piston calipers. I figured that was obvious since that is what comes with these cars stock. Where is the disconnect?

Thanks again for the info.

I couldn't get near a 93+ AWD aftermarket caliper to confirm what I would get if I ordered one. I have heard of cases in the aftermarket industry when they change the replacement part to cut costs. (ie dual piston gets changed to large single piston)

I just wanted to be sure (since the parts guys couldn't get the info untill late yesterday afternoon after calling 5 diferent places and waiting for return calls) that I was going to get what I wanted befor shelling out a deposite for ordering.

Thanks again for the info.:thumb:
