OK there is a creaking noise coming from my front driverside suspension. I don't know what is causing it, but it is terrible annoying. It happens when i am stopped and turn the wheel, going slow and turn the wheel, and when i hit bumps in the road. It started out really little but now is very loud and annoying. Any ideas what is causeing this. I have a froend with a rs that does it and another friend with a gsx that does this. Mine is lowered, but the rs is not.
Thanks JB

its your ball-joints, happened to me, just have to either buy a new ball joint for the top one i think, or its a control arm, for the bottom, my money says the boot around one of them is broke, and the grease is out. putting grease in it could also be a tempory fix if your short on funds. hope that helps

check your lower control arm, (bolt joint at the end by wheel) i woulnt drive like this and fix it -TEMp with grease! asap, and either you replace lower control arm, or go to mitsu - thats a RECALL. ... for 2g ...
you dont want your dsm to be stock in the middle somewhere, because your bolt joint will snap! this could couse a lot of trouble ...its like loosing almost the wheel .the wheel will go inside the fender and when towing comes, thats another problem.. (trust me it happened to me Twice! yes twice when i owned my first 2g dsm gst. ( guess what, i got same problem now... with 2g gst now and i will fix that ASAP, ( remember when you go to the dealer tell them you want this part to be REPLACED because what they do they will greeeese this ####..and thats it..check it if its new part... well good luck....

the boot coulda just gotten ripped, it happens, but just take your wheel off and have a friend turn it. i would reccomend buying the whole arm and doing it yourself, its really easy. i think i paid like 44.xx for the control arm and balljoint. oh and if you take the wheel off, you'll see the grease everywhere

I have had some cv boots replaced within a year. or right around a year ago, and had the lower controll arm replaced this time last year. I have had the wheel off and didn't see any greese anywhere. Once this sleeting #### quits I will be able to jack up the car and take a closer look. Thanks JB

I think I have the same problem...I didn't know if the creaking was from just all the salt and grime on the roads because of the crappy weather or if something needs replaced or greased or what:confused:

I just looked at it, and i did see the tear now that i know what i was looking for, I am going to go see if it is covered under the recall. If it is not where is the best place to get the part(i'm on a tight budget).
Thanks for the help, JB

i got mine from the dealer for a very resonable price of 44 dollars, cuz i don't think they sell them at checker or auto zone, at least not aound here.

OK I got mine from the dealer too, and it was 49.99. Were there any special tools or anything you needed, I am going to try to do this tomorrow. Also if there are any tricks that make it easier that is also appreciated.
Thanks JB

well, if you would stop spending so much money on gaay porn then you would be fine. i need that money soon, jaby!

yeah..i have a G1, and...yeah...all my boots on my struts are shot....and the one in the rear used to squeak....wanna know the fix.....grease...but....use white lithium grease...it's not real messy....IT'S IN A CAN!!! just spray the chit on....it works like a charm....

also works good for a squeaky alternator....(not belt!) and AC pump

i had the ball join go out on my car on the lower control arm and when it snapped i lost total control of the car, was not a good deal, luckily i did not hit anybody else... N E ways... when it snapped it broke the CV joint and something else, but i recomend not doing a TEMP fix on this and going and getting it done, the total repair bill for everything, labor and all was around $350.00.... its really not all that pricey for maybe saving yours and someone elses life if you were to hit them because of this. I have a 1995 Eagle Talon ESI and the ball bearing on the lower control arms WAS covered by a recall that i had recieved in the mail. hope this helps ya out

i fixed mine week ago, lower arm was done in 2000 i got the car few months go so they devil-dealer says ITS not recall anymore... because it was done ones..allready, well if its a recall why this happened again? who cares. so what i did i bought the part for $40 and replace it.....done.
TEMP wont do shizzy (i tried) -replace the part...

p/s Nate: now you know what iam talking about when it snaps.. from $40 comes to 350 or whatever..

no problem dude, i do what I can! and thanks for the money.

This is up with my car too. At first I thought it was the shocks, so I said screw it and upgraded my shocks to KYB AGXes (had some in the rear, figured might as well finish it off), and the noise is still there.

So it's around $50 for the whole assembly for one side? Control Arm and Ball Joint and everything? Should I do both sides at once or do I only need to do the side that's broken?

Somebody said it's like an hours labor? I got access to a jack, and also a friendly mechanic (he just did my shocks and is kind of angered that the sound is still there, so he offered to help me finish the job for free), should I just go and pick up the whole control arm assembly and bring it to my mechanic and have him put it on? Or is it really easy to do myself? I also have a friend with a nice jack that I could use (in fact we just used it to bolt on a muffler on a friends civic).

If I could find some instructions on how to replace the part that would be great, might as well just do the whole arm, because he said he wasn't sure what part of it it was.

What exactly is covered by the recall? And would it probably be easier to just take the $50 loss and get it done from my mechanic?

fix it yourself, took me like 45 min and i went slow to make sure i did it right, one side at a time is good enough, do it yourself, you'll learn more about your car

After removing and replacing this would it be a good idea to get an alignment or should that not effect this?

Is there a v-faq or anywhere that gives instructions on how to replace the lower control arm and ball joint? I've got the dreaded "creak" too and it's driving me NUTS. To make things worse, I spun my tires the other day and got some HORRIBLE wheel hop and then heard (and felt) a WHACK! come from the wheel that scared the bejeezus out of me. I've already replaced both front struts and axles without too much swearing and Excederins -- Is this job much more difficult?
