So I got some 235's put on my car yesterday and I've been looking to do my suspension but I'm wondering if I'm gonna have rubbing problems or if I'll need to roll my fenders.. The tires are 235/45/17's and the wheels is 8" wide, I want to lower my car about 2" with Ground Control coilovers.

Here are some pics, sorry the car is a mess(especially the wheels LOL)

I'm also wondering if anyone know what camber plates work with the Ground Control coilovers, I would rather have those than buying the camber adjuster bolts.

I have no clue, but I just wanted to say those wide wheels/tires look pretty good.
and keep your thread alive ofcourse.

Well I was checking my clearance between my tire and shock tower and I have like 3" clearance in the back and I haven't even checked the front yet but I'm worried its gonna be a lot worse so I'm not sure how low I'm gonna be able to go till I get camber plates because I need to run some negative camber to get my tires to not rub on my fenders.

Dude, you have plenty of room there for a 2" drop. I wouldn't worry about it. Plus you are getting coilovers anyway. You can always raise it up a little bit. You may need to roll the front fender a little bit with a wooden bat so it doesn't cut into the tire.

Ok Mike I'll take your word LOL

Do you know what adjustable camber plates work with the Ground Controls?

I don't think you'll have a problem rubbing BUT its hard to say for sure without knowing the offset of the wheel.

Well, on my stock height 2g, I'm running 235/45/17 and I cant even fit a finger between the tire and the control arm/suspension even though I have plenty for room to the top of the fender well. I guess it all depends on your offset, etc.

Luckily, you're getting GCs, so you can raise it if you have to.

RRE used to have some that worked with GC. Not sure whether they still do. Why do you need camber plates? You want to adjust camber?

I'd like to be able to have the adjustment, but if I don't REALLY need them right away then I probably won't get them. How can I check the offset of my wheels?

Ya I'll still be able to adjust the height which will be nice and if it does have to be higher than I want it the handling should still be nice since "1G cars don't like to be lowered a lot". Just what I heard LOL

Washed the car today and took more pics, luckily I got them before it started raining again. Looks nice. Let me know what everyone thinks :)

When you use GC coilovers it uses a smaller diamater front spring so you'll have more clearence if you install them right. You may have to roll the fenders though.

I lowered my 2g by 2 inches with the same tire setup and it didn't rub at all but again thats on a 2g and it is hard to say without your rim offset. My tires sat on the inside of my fenders and yours look like they stick out a bit so it would probably rub if you went too low. Even if it doesn't rub, i would roll your fenders anyways to match the width of your tires just for looks. I don't like the look when tires stick out past the fenders. But thats just my opinion

As mentioned before its hard to say but I will mention that your wheels seem to be about the same offset as mine. I have my lowered with Tein s. techs. I put 235 on it and the rubbed on every turn and bump. Went back to 225 and only rubs just a little every now and then. I def think if you rolled the front just a tad you would be good. The rear shouldn't cause you any problems. In fact I wish my rear was another inch or two lower.

I run Trak lite 2 17x8 w/45 offset. I also have Megan coil overs with pretty stiff springs. I don't know the spring rate...whatever comes with them.

My racing tire size is 235x40x17. I have it lowered a little bit...did not measure. It only rubs a little on the inside when I turn the wheel to full lock.

Not sure on the drop with my springs but Im running H&R springs with 235/45/17 tires on stock wheels. havent rubbed yet and I love how the car sits with these.

1gs really only need to be lowered about an inch MAX. Lower and you'll be working outside the suspension's designed swing and it won't be able to peform as it designed. :thumb: But that's an opinion.

I'm running Eibach sportlines right now. I'm using 245/45/17's and i don't rub at all. My wheel is 17x8 i think I'm not really sure. If it isn't 17x8 then it's 17x7. Sorry it's been a while since I've replaced tires.

I'm on eibach prokits with gr2s in the rear and stock blown shocks in the front (PO's decision) and I only rub in the front due to the fact that my front shocks are blown, before they blew out I wasn't having any rubbing issues on 245/45/17s with 17x8 +38 offset wheels (evo 8 wheels). If you want pics let me know.
