You've drove it so the suspension could settle right?

Especially for a 1g, I don't know why you'd want the car that low anyhow. Sounds like a blessing in disguise!

A 1.5" drop is pretty good, I'm at 1.75" drop on my 2g and that is the outer limit of what I'd run.

You should've bought coilovers if you wanted to go that low.

Maybe you have a lot of wheel gap because of the wheel/tire combo you are running. I was looking at the specs of the springs and I think I like their spring rates. How does the handling feel in comparison to the Teins? As mentioned, you should be too disappointment the drop. Too much of a drop can at times sacrifice the handling of the car.

Hmmm. looking on ebay and punishment racing the specs are different.

Punishment and certain other ebay vendors claim: Springs rate - 335 Front and 250 Rear
Ebay others:Springs rate: 280F & 230R

So looking at it a bit close the Megan either way are stiffer than the Tein:
kgf/mm lbs/in kgf/mm lbs/in mm in mm in
3.8 213 3.2 179 31 1.2 41 1.6

I may end up trying a set with some Koni's. I don't think my H&R's are stiff enough and H&R will not share spring rate numbers :/

i think with springs you can get lucky or unlucky sometimes. I just spent 50$ bucks on ebay special springs and the top of my tires are about even with the apex of the wheel well.

It takes a while for springs to settle. Just like how an exhaust gets louder after a while. From what I have always seen, Megans slam 1gs. And ride like shit, of course. Also, setting up suspension for wheel-gap hiding is a reciepe for failing.

I have the Megan Springs on my 1G AWD and I love the way it looks. There is about two fingers between the tire and wheel well and I think it looks great. The ride is not to bad either. Im running 17" Motegi's with 225/45/17 tires and the ride is pretty good and I like the stance a lot. Mine have only settled about 1/4" since installation and they have about 8k on them.

Megans ride like shit? I beg to differ. Give them a try before knocking on them. Their spring rates are actually higher a tad higher than eibach, and unlike eibach at least they tell you the rate, instead of 15-20% stiffer.

IMHO Eibach are over-rated. Their coil-over springs suck compared to hypercoil and other brands.

Also, lowering a car without using better struts is lame. I've got Koni's with megan springs and it rode pretty well.

I've been in a Megan car. It was very rough. But, comfort is in the eye of the beholder, good sir. So I won't argue with you about that. And I don't think Eibachs are all that great either.

I'm curious if he had put in new struts? And if so what kind? I've got Koni's with mine so they can handle higher spring rates.

Tein sadly is the worst spring you can get for DSM's. They use lower spring rates than factory! lol.

I doubt you having a gutted trunk would make a noticeable difference. I doubt there is over 200lbs in the trunk from the factory.
