I just bought DBA slotted rotors and Hawks HPS for all 4.

I have never done any sort of break job and Im really completely clueless. I have searched and looked in the tech forum and nothing is really complete.

Im going to be completely removing the calipers and getting them powder coated.

What steps would I take to remove the calipers, and then reinstall with new pads ' rotors.

Thanks!

Im going to remove the caliper and get them powdercoated.

What do I do with the brake lines? Drain them, pinch them? I have SS Lines.

Also, I have to remove everything from the caliper to get it coated, Do I need to replace any of the inner workings when I "rebuild" put it back to gether?

I have 0 experance here, help please and thanks.

Disconnect the lines from the caliper and prop them upright somehow so that they're not leaking all over the place. If you actually have zero experience, then you really have no business rebuilding a caliper. Purchase a haynes manual asap; it gives you a step-by-step on how to do a brake job.

Yep 0 experiance with anything in that area besides removing the tire.

I looked at the Haynes for the 2g eclipse.

Its appx 1" thick and covers the 2ga 2gb 3g ... I wasn't to confidient in that.

Still worth the 30 bucks? I just downloaded the two-thousand eclipse service manual, it seems a little more worth while.

"Take off the caliper and bracket"
1. Take off the brake line.
2.First get free the two bolts that hold the caliper to the mounting bracket.
3. There are two more bolts that attach the mounting bracket, take those off and you should be ready to paint.

or just follow these steps:

just ignore the "how to swap bigger brakes part"

I would suggest getting another set of calipers to PC and have them on hand before you down your car for 1-2 weeks while its being PC'd/worked on.
One thing you will need for SURE is a 'line wrench'. Most of the time lines like brake lines are so tight they bend even quality open end wrenches.

They are much thicker and can bend, but are usually MUCH stronger than any open end wrench.
You should spray your fittings you plan on taking off with PB blaster or at least WD40 or something in between.

The brake caliper removal is quite simple. I've done it quite frequently as of lately. The instructions above are pretty spot on. Use a flare head wrench when you remove and reinstall the brake line to the hard line. Use the flare head (I think 10mm) on the fitting on the hard line. I'm sure some will tell you that you can use a normal wrench, but ideally you want to use a flare head wrench on that type of fitting.
I wouldn't suggest powder coating the calipers. I would just use some brake caliper paint, or I use high-temp spray paint. Seems to work nicely.

Don't forget to torque all your bolts back to spec!

I didn't see you posted that, I was busy editing my picture when you wrote that. But I'm glad to see another person in support of using the proper wrenches!

LOL yep, actually if he is still going to send them out(local parts store caliper paint works great) he should take off the flare at the caliper, not at the hardline.

FYI, that location of connection, combined with the fuel filter, is the biggest pain in the ass on any car. No one has touched it since your car was made most likely, and its got rust halfway in the threads, GL!

I didn't even think of some brake caliper paint, hows the finish from that? Im going to just do Black, Im not looking for stick out red, but I would like to hide the ugly stock unpainted color that is slowly oxidising.
If I were to use the paint, Would I take off the brake lines and just cover them to keep the fluid from leaking out? Or hang them up? And when I do put everything back togehter, do I need to bleed the brakes?

Im not trying to get into my car and kill myself from a bad brake job.

I hope I have some easy bonjo bolts! Ifnot Ill make sure to pick up some more Flare wrenches, I have used them a bit, Fuel lines suck!

Thanks for the replys!

Line wrenches SUCK! Whoever invented those should be murdered! But, I think there is enough info here for you to do a brake job.

doesnt matter 2ga 2gb hudahfadfhadjh or if its a ferrari brake jobs are simple. Theres no need to explain this at all. The only way your going to learn is if you take your tool box and go outside and no one here tells you how to do it. Thats how i learned at my uncles shop. "Here change the brakes..but idk how? FIGURE IT OUT" or if you stillcant do it take it to a shop

and you will prob kill urself...good luck bleeding the brakes!

Take it easy!

He'll learn just fine even if he does get a little guidance. Noone held my hand when I started working on my car but hey, my stepfather did at least tell me how to do it. He refused to come outside though.

Some may say the brakes are the most important part of your car, if you cant stop you die.

I guess Im trying to avoid things that may be a pretty big problem.

I.e
Dont kink a brake line it may cause failure down the line, instead drain out all brake fluid if removing caliper.

If you rebuild your caliper, make sure to do it with new stuff as the old stuff may break later.

I dont think asking for some guidance is that bad when it involves something so cruical to your car.

Asking for help is always ok! Once you get in there and start doing it I am confident you will feel better about doing it.

MAKE SURE your caliper bolts are on tight during reinstall.

Use loctite or lock washer if you have to.

Trust me, having a caliper bolt back out is not fun.
