ok well i have a 1996 Talon TSI FWD witch came with single piston calipers up front. I just got a hold of some 1996 2g AWD GSX dual piston calipers witch have the the screw in type brake line fitting were as to my stock calipers have a banjo bolt fitting going into the caliper on them.

What should i do at this point? could i just buy 96 GSX SS brake lines and would it bolt right up to my car then??? and if i did buy that ss line kit would the lines that come for the back calipers screw in on my back calibers as well??? im very lost at this point i hope you all get what im asking here.

please help! because i want these calipers to work out there mint

The best and easiest thing you can do is go to road race and buy there set that will fix the problem. The problem you are having is because you received the calipers that are set up for the 1g style brake hoses, which have thread in hoses instead of the banjo bolt style hoses. I personally have sold dozens of the dual piston calipers and have never screwed someone by selling them the wrong set. You should contact the guy that sold them to you and see if he can send you the 2g set.

why cant you just buy 2g gsx lines? why dont they just bolt up??? like my brakes are off a 1996 2g gsx and they have screw in fittings. wouldent the fitting that screws into the car be the same?

You didn't need to post this 2 places. Eric answered your question in the thread you started. If your calipers accept a screw in style line, you need the adapter lines.

Thanks guys,:thumb: just got a taste of what dsm is all about got bloody nuckles and just finishing up the upgrade i ended up going with ss lines all around and resurface rotors, i just cant get the darn back rotors off they seem to be bolted on or something im ganna do a little searching see if i can find out how to get them off.

Just to verify, you do have the parking brake off when your trying to remove the rear rotors? (easy mistake). If the parking brake is off, its common for the rotors to rust to the hubs (on any vehicle). If your replaceing the rotors you can smack the the rear side of the brakeing surface with a few good wacks from a hammer which should break them lose. If your keeping the rotors, smack the front side, inner portion on the face & on the sides with a hammer, which should also break them lose. Another method is some rotors will have a hole/holes drilled/tapped into the front of the rotor (around the area where the wheel studs come through), that you can install some bolts in that will also break them free from the hubs.

Edit: Just noticed the date, maybe this thread will help someone else though ROFL

ok great thatnks alot yea sorry about the other thread i lost were it went and i did get any answers. thanks alot tho ill just go with RRe ss lines then. witch ones do i get? the ones that say 1g/3000gt?

It sounds like you have 1g GSX calipers, not 2g. You can buy Adapter Brake Lines (2G With 1G/3000GT Style Front Brakes) from RRE.

RRE's Eclipse Brake Upgrades

Thank you. are you sher tho. because the guy i got them off of is into road racing and he got the brakes off of a 1996 gsx and the calipers have a screw in fitting on them. from what i read in forms, most 1g awd cars and fwd 2g cars have banjo bolt fittings some 2g awd's have banjos in the front but some also came with the screw in type wicth is what i have. and ive seen other 2g gsx's with the screw in fitting as well. anyways since i have screw in type calipers this RRE kit should work anyways true? because a fitting is a fitting. and does that kit come with the back caliper lines as well??? thank you.

If the calipers require a screw in fitting, they require a screw in fitting. The normal 2g brake lines use a banjo bolt. The kit comes with 4 lines - 2 for the front and 2 for the back.

No, I am not positive that all 2g's had banjo bolts. Maybe if you post some pictures up we can figure out what calipers you have. Since I'm not sure which calipers you have I don't want to guarantee that the RRE kit will fit, but I would assume it will fit. The kit comes with the rear lines too.

I recently went through something similar to this. Granted I have a 1ga awd but here is what I found.

I went to napa and purchased loaded brake calipers without pads for a 95 gsx. I noticed right away that the caliper did not use a banjo bolt. It used the same fitting as my original 1ga calipers. I have been using these calipers with my oem brake lines for a few months. I do have a set of ss lines that I purchased from JNZ and will be installing them in the next week. I will look around and find pictures that I took when I was originally doing this swap because I had to help the guys at JNZ to make sure I got the correct lines that I needed.

^ Interesting.

Well, if that is true and is the same as the OP's calipers, then you will still need the adapter lines.

No adapter needed. If you know what you need just call JNZ and they will have the shop that makes their lines put what ever ends you want on the lines. I think I may even have the pics on the work cpu but if not I will add them when I get home tonight.

The adapter lines from RRE are the same thing as JNZ would make. One end is for the 2g stock hard lines and the other end is for a screw in (typically 1g) style caliper. It is a full line, not just an adapter.

Ok I see what you are saying. I was thinking you were saying some kind of adapter to convert from a banjo style to a screw in style.

I just looked on this cpu and I must of erased the pictures. If the OP still wants them I will upload them tonight from my cpu at home.

Heres the pics of them and of the hard line fitting on my car stock. let me know what you guys think:thumb:

Well they look identical to my brothers 1g awd calipers, but that's still not saying they aren't a 2g caliper.

Oh well, get the RRE adapter lines and slap those calipers on!

ok that sells me LOL yea ill go with those then. thanks for all of your guys help ill call them just incase tho. if any one else has any more responses to this topic answer them here. :thumb:

That is exactly what my brakes look like and they are 2g breaks. The only difference between your lines and mine is that yours will be only one line and mine is two lines with a hard line in the middle.

great! LOL were having a brake through here haha.

yea on RRE the 1g kit has 8 lines 4 for up front and 4 for the back

so mine would be this one

2G With 1G/3000GT Style Front Brakes $105 4 Lines

2 lines up front 2 lines in the back. Ture? ture.
