I just ordered Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustables for my '97 GS and I should be installing them this Saturday. I just wanted to see what settings you guys prefer to use on your DSMs... for street use, track use, muddin', or whatever you do on the weekends...;)

I do all street driving right now so should i set it around 3 or so? also, do any of you use different settings front and rear? what advantage does this provide?

Thanks in advance!

I just keep mine on 1, and then 5 for auto X. It may be the other way around i forget, but it doesn't really matter much to me, I can really tell a difference betweent the settings....

I am curious as to how you know which way is one of five. When you get the struts, the caps are not on them, of course.

But, there are no indicators stating how to put the cap on correctly so that one is point the correct way. There are also know instructions.

So, how do you know if you actually put the cap on correctly.

i used 3 + 3 for regular us. when i had it on 1 + 1 it would seem that i would kinda lose some control of the wheel. i put it on 1 on front and 5 in back when im racing to send all the weight to the back

Leichtspeed,

3 in the front, and 2 in the back ... I figure set the fronts a tad stiffer since they carry most of the weight of the car. I'll usually crank the rears to 5 for trips to the track to prevent weight transfer.

airbrat,

As per MARCUSMARC's response and personal experience I can tell you 1=soft 5=stiff.

99GST,

If you have these you know the caps can only go on one way. The trick from there is to ensure when changing settings the lay of the slot points directly at the setting you have selected (ie. so looking at the other end of the slot should put you equally between two settings) .. I hope that makes sense to you.

yeah 1 is the soft setting and 5 is the stiff setting. I have yet to take mine to the track with the new suspension, but with fwd you'll want to set it at 1 up front and 5 in the back. For everyday driving I have them set at 5 all around. Its easy to see how the caps go on, they fit over a circle that is flat spotted so that they go on correctly, the cap is designed the same way so you can not mess it up if you tried.

Does anyone know how I can order new caps, and the little selector things that go in the middle of the cap? I got mine a little used, and it only came with 2. Its pissin me off, and I broke one of them.

I do have the Illuminas, and I can put my caps on two different ways. Either with 1 facing in(towards the engine) or out (facing the tire).

So, which way does the number one face?

ahhhh... i just got my Illuminas installed on Saturday... man, i didn't realize how bad my ride was until driving with these new shocks! so far i am very happy with them, and adjusting on the fly is a snap! today i'm going to experiment with different settings to see what i like best. thanks to everyone who responded.

no more bouncing!!
