I just picked up a set of the rotors and bracket adapters from someone on the dsmlink boards. I have no instructions or anything, but its a bigger rotor and a caliper bracket. So in trying to get these one, first with the bracket on flush with the hub, the stock caliper bracket does not clear the rotor. So, out came the box of washer and I managed to get it all together all bite grinding a little off the stock caliper bracket. However, now that everything is all together, a small portion of the brake pad hangs off the rotor. I was like... :|. So I put it all back together with the stock parts. My question is, is this kit this shitty or did I do something wrong? Does anyone have any pictures of their kit installed? Thanks for any help.

Show us some pics of it installed and we may notice something you dont. I was actually interested in this setup but maybe its not as high quality as I thought.

Considering the price I paid and what i'm getting, a much larger two piece rotor, it was a great deal for me. There are better options out there if you are counting the amount of feet your car stops from at 60mph. I personally wouldn't even recommend this kit for someone looking for big brakes and any type of competition use. Sadly, I cannot get any picture until this weekend.

But with the larger rotor, youre getting better stopping power. Id consider it an upgrade in between stock and getting a full 4 wheel upgrade. Although with just front, you may be upsetting the bias a little bit but not enough youll probably notice.

Get some pics when you can. Maybe you flipped the bracket or something simple.

The pad condition you describe is normal - this is because the pads are designed for a smaller radius rotor that the AEM/PowerSlot rotor.

Make absolutely certain that the rotor hat is truly flush with the hub face - my front ones were not, there was a small lip inside the hat that had to be machined off before the hat would sit flush.

The caliper bracket does interfere, but the excess is easily ground away - this is mentioned in the original instructions.

My only real complaint is that both front and rear kits use odball hardware - Allen screws with funky threads - and when you try to remove them after a year or two it is quite difficult.

I've been very happy with my set, the overall braking is significantly improved and longevity is excellent; I haven't even needed to replace pads yet, so it appears that the pads (Porterfield R4S) are having a much easier life on these rotors compared to stock.

I also have the AEM big brake kit. I have the Baer Track kit in front but I hae the AEM big rotor kt in back. I also bought mine used and it did not come with instructions. After a few minutes of looking everything over, I had it fingured out.
I rememeber I reused the factory bolts to mount the bracket to the hub, but first I used the weird allen key bolts provided to attach the caliper to the new supplied spacer bracket.
A pic on your part would help us alot.
This is the only pic could find in my photo bucket:

I think I have a set of replacement front "rings" for this kit if someone wants them at a good price. I'll have to pull the specs off them and let you know. They were shipped by mistake to a customer and back to me having forgotten I even had them...oops. I think they are about 12.5" and about .950 wide and an eight bolt pattern? They are directional vane and slotted too I think.

Call me on Monday if you want them.
