I'm wondering if anyone has driven on the Bridgestone RE01R. How do they compare to the Advan Neova or Michelin PS2?
I have driven a ton of miles on the PS2, and they are great tires. The RE01R seems to have an excellent price for the 225/40/18.

I have never driven on them but i know they run extremely wide. The 245/40/17 has a tread width of 9". Even compared to the already wide RT615 or Z212 they are even wider. I plan on getting them for my next set of tires on my 17x8 (or 225/45/17 BFG Drag Radial...haven't decidied yet). Since i plan on getting some 225/50/16 for my FD wheels for daily driving

From SOCALevo.net:

BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE-01R. much thanks to x838nwyfor an awesome review and helping out with this community tire project. this tire is bridgestone's flagship street tire offering. tread pattern is a bit remeniscent of the neova. in stock tire size these tires are a bit lazier than the stock tires but the ultimate grip level is higher than that of stock (for the same size). braking characteristics are better than stock (probably due to higher level of ultimate grip) and the break away characteristics are very progressive (possibly due to rouded shouldering from the factory, however these tires ride quieter. the weight is more than stock but i never nit pick when it comes to a good tire ;]. all this said the wet performance is good in autocross conditions. price is also similar to that of the other highest performance street tires.

Keep in mind the stock tire is the Advan A046 a super-stiff tire that grips very well...Hope this helps

What would tread life be like?
The Michelin PS2's have a life of about 7k miles and thats with beating on them.
Would they compare to the BFGoodrich KDW2?

Great on the street. :thumb:
Great in the rain. :thumb:

Rumor is that they grip like RT-615's but don't go away in 3 laps.

I'll report back around Oct 16 or 17 as to how they work (for me) on the track. :rocks:

I rode in a car with them and they felt great, the "STS" class at the Solo nationals was won last year on them and people were saying they were going to be the new street tire to have in the ST classes at autocross, though there will always be loyalist to other brands saying otherwise.

Jim do you daily drive your car? I don't daily drive my car, its more of a summer car. But how is the treadwear for you?

I drive it whenever I can, rain or shine, and like that, in the summer. My commute is very short (14mi. round trip) but usually she'll see about 2-3000 miles per summer. I've got maybe only 500 miles on these tires so far this year, (late start) so I cannot truly say how long term wear will be.

Treadwear so far? Indetectable, even with -3*f/-2*r camber. :thumb:

Ummm, I'm trying to decide on the tires I should get... I've driven hundreds of miles on the PS2. A piece of me says to get the PS2, because they are a great tire, but a piece of me wants to try something new.
Jim, what sold you on the RE-01R?

Jim, what sold you on the RE-01R?
I needed tires?

Seriously, I didn't really agonize about it much. I figured any tire was better than my old NeoGen's, for track days. That's as scientific as it gets in my world, try SOMEthing, it's all guessing till you do it.

I got new Dunlop Sportmax 235/45/17 tires and I absolutely love them.
Handling is great, no squaking on high speed corners. Car just seems planted and when I want to turn I don't have to even think about it, I just flick the wheel and it goes.
So far I have around 2000 miles on them and they are holding up great.

Update: RE-01 R's work awesome on the racetrack! They slide predictably, make a quiet but audible warning howl, wear well, and at 70-ish ambient temp, they stay consistent for a 20 min. session. Wear is negligable after 5 sessions.

Faster drivers may be able to overheat them, but they should be into an R compound, these are a real street tire after all.

I highly reccommend them. :thumb:
