18x8 1/2

I just bought another gst and it has 18x8 1/2 rims on it. I need new tires on it and I want to get all the rubber to the road I can. I know alot of people are running a 235/40/18 on there 8's but I was wondering if I could do a litle bit bigger on a 8 1/2. I'm not lowering the car and it is a daily driver so please keep that in mind.

Alot will depend on the offset of the wheel.

More traction is what I want. I know its a daily driver but a still like to have a lil fun in town.

Traction is just as important in a daily driver.

Little kids don't generally run out in front of you at the track, like they do on your way home from work.

I run 235/40s on my 18x8.5s. With a +40 offset and the car sitting pretty low, the tire comes reeeeeealy close to the rear suspension. I know I couldnt run anything wider
