i here mixed opinons on ABS if it is alot bet than non ABS on the rs eclipses how hard would it be to get ABS after rear disc conversion

ABS sucks (especially on the 1G cars - I'm removing mine this weekend.) There really isn't any need for ABS if you know how to drive/stop in slipery conditions. All the ABS does is pump your brakes for you when the wheels start to slip. But in many cars it reduces the stopping distance drastically. I much prefer to just pump the brakes myself when needed. ABS is one of those things designed to help the majority of drivers on the road who have no clue how to drive correctly in the first place. I don't think I've ever seen add on ABS for our cars, but I'd think it would be a big waste of money if it's even possible. JMHO

Drew,

im doing the ABS conversion also. Im kinda worried about driving a non ABS car since im used to it. My car has never slid unless intentionally did it. What do you think? I know what you mean about not slowing down as fast as a non abs.... and the reason im removing it is probably the same as yours..it gets in the way of everything ive ever done to the car. :barf: Not to mention the FMIC im buying might not clear LOL.

I agree, ABS is not good.
I dont have abs and anytime i've slammed it going less then 60 the car just comes to a screeching halt. It doesn't try to come around or lose control and seems to stop alot faster then cars i've dealt w/ that have ABS. Autocrosing or extreme conditions can really cause the tires to become "patchy" though.
Only time it seemed to want to come around is when i drove around in the snow w/ brand new winter tires in the front and my almost completly bald stockers in the rear. I believe this was so extreme though that even w/ abs it wouldn't matter much. I would ditch ABS so fast if I had it. Just take it out in a good rain and see what happens, mine always seems to stay straight.

I'd never used ABS until I got my '93 and took it over to show my folks.... and found out too late that they had the gate closed. It saved the car, and the gate.

I've played with it in the snow, it's kinda fun. I don't see a downside to it, but I hate airbags- so there you go.

You pretty much have to make up your own mind, based on whatever information you think is best.
