I was wondering how i should go about instalign my stock springs on my new agx shocks. The problem i see is that there is a little black retainer on the rod coming out of the shock. When i instaled the dust covers (from KYB, whcih have the bumper built in) i sliped them over so that the retainer hed up the dust cover and a zip tie held the cover to the chock body. it seems on the stock shock there are 2 retainter? im not sure will i only have to remove the spring and re assemble everythin in order on the new shock? It just seems that there is nothing preventing the rod from pushing up when the shock compresses, unless the bushings fill the area between the top of the bumpstop and the bottom of the plate... i hope some one knows what im talkign aobut? the vfaqs were un helpful... THanks i need help fast i get my spring compressor tommoro !!

I think I understand what you're talking about - the two washers above and below the rubber ball on the top of the shock? On the stock shock, one of them is integrated into the dust shield.

When I added my Konis, the old washers wouldn't fit, due to the increased diameter of the shock shaft. I decided to just use the one washer per shock that came with the Konis, and figured that the rubber ball wouldn't be able to slide over the bulge in the shock shaft, even without a washer. BAD IDEA! As soon as I backed out of the driveway, my right front shock went straight up and punched a dent in my hood, cracking the paint

I drove back into the garage and took all the shocks apart all over again, and bored out the old washers so they would fit, so I could have two washers per shock. I've since had my hood fixed and repainted, but boy was I upset when that happened.

Sorry if this isn't the most lucid explanation, but I have a lot of pics from my install, and can post them if you need extra info to go by.

LOL, that is EXACTLY what happened to me, word for word, except no dent in the hood, it was the rear that went first, yeah its no fun, having to jackup and tear apart your car ALLLLLL over agian.
