I am looking at some 18 inch rims. How many of you had to roll your fenders to get them to fit?

I am planning on lowering it 1" (maybe 1.25") here in the near future.

I just want to know what to look forward to. The guy also qouted me with 215/35/18. However, I have read that if I go with 225/40/18 that these will put be more towards actual stock size and into better specs with my stock speedometer readings. Is this true? I can't imagine the tallness of a 35/40 being that much of a difference.

Thanks! :dsm: FWD if it matters

Yes it is true. Rolling the fenders will depend on the offset of the wheels you get.

The size 215/35/18 tires quoted to you are wrong for your car. You cannot trust this vendor to sell you a package that is right. There’s nothing wrong with buying from someone like that as long as you understand that YOU are responsible for the fit, function and safety of your selection.

Wheel diameter is not a determining factor for fender rolling. Tire tread width and wheel spacing (offset) are the greatest determining factors, followed by camber correction. Properly spaced 225/40/18 tires would not require fender rolling.

Here are some crude diagrams illustrating when and why fender rolling is needed.

All depends on the offset but on a 7.5" rim with a 41-44mm offset (alot of rims fall into this offset range, you can probably go with a slightly less offset but may have to roll the fenders & I wouldn't recommend a larger offset as the rims will be tucked too much giving you a less aggressive stock looking stance) you shouldn't have any issues. You want to run 225/40/18, thats what I run with about a 1.6-1.7" drop and have zero clearance issues. The fenders haven't been rolled.

Lowered with H+R's. I've taken out ALOT of weight so it doesn't handle all that well anymore with springs.

Tires are 225/40/18's - no problems what-so-ever

I have the H&R springs with 1 finger wheel gap all around running 225/40/18x8,i don't rub and don't have camber kit,and i didn't roll my fender

My car has a 2" drop with 225/40/18" ... no rubbing here.

I dropped mine 2 inches also with the Eibach Sportline, had to roll the fenders. 225/40/18

Thanks guys! I appreciate the info.

You know on my quote paper all that is stated in the offset box is HPO. Whatever that means. I better go back in there and ask him what it is.

I guess I was just very unprepared to look at rims at the time. LOL

Once upon a time, I had 225/40 18s on a 18x8 with +40mm offset with about a 1.5 drop. Fit just fine (with camber kit of course).

Wret comes through again with the drawings. Way too much time on your hands man, :) but they do get the point across.

I run 43 offset 18x7.5 with 225/40/18, changing em out for 235/40/18s cause I have lots of space, I could possibly try 245s but too big for 7.5 inch.
