How does a drag/street FWD DSM compare to a high speed track/street DSM?

Everything thing FWD from springs, struts, swaybars, strut tower bars, bushings, wheels, tires, reliabilty, and ease of use.

Trying to find a balance of high speed handeling and drag. Rather give up a little on the drag for better high speed control.

Well here’s what came to mind.

DRAG: 1. swaybars - not really needed
2. suspension settings, soft front, stiff rear
3. get a LSD
4. quality tires (I have 245's front 225's rear)
5. quality clutch to handle hard launches

TRACK: 1. swaybars - the rear bar helps lots
2. suspension - stiff front and rear
3. upgraded brakes (TCE willwood kit)
4. LSD - not really needed but nice to have
5. 4. quality tires (I have 245's front 225's rear however this is to get rid of understeer, im not interested in drag racing although it would help the 60foot time...)
6. long track sessions require cooling (ext oil cooler, radiator, quality brake fluid..etc)

hope this helps some...

on your #2 . . . what exactly do you mean by soft/stiff suspension settings? spring rates, compression setting on the strut, rebound setting on the strut . . ?

And as for the LSD, I would have to argue that it would help out in either situation regardless - perhaps a bit more in drag racing for the launches, but definitely would help in AutoX & road races.

Well your rite, a LSD will always help but being the pricy item that it is, a track day guy would benefit by spending the money else ware before spending on the LSD. An auto-crosser might find the LSD more useful than the track day guy however and would consider spending money on this rather that that 50trim turbo that would probably hurt his autocross time anywise.

As for the stiff/soft, that was really a general comment directed mainly at the damping forces, not the spring rates as most spring/coil-over buyers choose what comes with the kit. For some one with a basic AGX/Eibach combo, there is only one adjustment to be made. Stiff or soft, turning the dial on an AGX strut changes both the compression and the rebound at the same time.
