I have a 91 TSi AWD with the single piston calipers in front. One of my front caliper pistons is frozen so Im deciding to upgrade my brakes a little. I was looking at getting the 2 piston calipers from a 93-94 AWD for the front. My questions are...

Are they a direct bolt on (uses same bracket)?

When installing new rotors and pads with the new calipers from a 93-94 AWD do I go with rotors and pads for a 93-94 AWD? Or are the rotors the same size?

Thanks,

ok, and I take it that is a Yes to my first question too. That the 2 piston calipers from a 93-94 AWD will use same bolts and brackets as the single piston calipers on a 91 AWD?

I do believe you will need a new mount for the caliper. When I upgraded mine I found a set of calipers and brackets from a 2g (dual piston) on ebay. I re-used my stock bolts and they bolt up to the spindle. But since the calipers, rotors and pads are different, I assume the mount for the caliper would be different as well.

If I get brackets from a 2g, which ones have the one I need? Does it matter if its AWD or turbo?

Yes the mounting brackets are different but depending on whos calipers you buy, some of them come with the mounting bracket. If your calipers don't come with the bracket you need 93-99 awd turbo brackets (fwd wont work as they are for the smaller single piston calipers)

Please refer to the Big Brake VFAQs since they answer most of your questions.

Be careful about what car you get the calipers from. If they don't use the same 1G style brake lines that thread into the caliper you will need custom lines made to deal with the 2G banjo style attachment.

Once you have converted you will be buying pads and rotors up front for a '93 AWD or 3000GT non-turbo, or what ever car you get the brakes from and not your car.
