So I ordered D2s from Speed Factor and I love them. I can tell I need some tuning and adjusting though. As I was reading more about all the factors that should be figured out after the suspension is replaced. For instance the weight balancing between the four corners so that weight is evenly distributed. Obviously camber/toe but that requires camber kit. And I know the D2s have the ability to adjust rebound and compression dampening but dont really know how to do it. The suspension didnt really come with instructions at all so Im kind of lost.
There is 3 rings on the strut two under the spring and one above the bottom part of the shock. Do I really need to half disassemble the suspension in order to spin the bottom of the shock up to adjust the height? I thought the purpose of adjustable suspension and those keys was to be able to do it without taking it all apart everytime.
How do I adjust rebound and compression dampening and how will adjusting those affect my ride comfort and handling?
Why is there 3 rings and what do they do? If I have to take half the suspension off to adjust it, why do i ned to use those tools to tighten?
Someone with some time, patience and desire to teach a suspension newb would be much appreciated!!

Alright calm down LOL.

First off, the keys that you got are for two rings on the shock body. You want to first loosen one from the other (they are together) and spin the top one up or down for your ride height. then you tigthen the bottom one to the top one like double-nutting a stud.

Second, compression and rebound are adjusted together at the top of the shock, just look at the top of the shock and pin the top little piece until you hear clicks. Every click is an adjustment.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Edit: When people talk about weight balancing the corners, its called corner balancing. that has to be done at a special place to get the weight of each corner and then since you sound a little new to suspension, have a professional look at the results and tell you what you should do to adjust them.

ok thanks. I thought that I had read somewhere in the packaging to NOT adjust the height by using the top rings, which is why we did not do that. So then what is the purpose of the bottom of the shock being able to screw and unscrew?
Also I thought that the D2s had the ability to adjust rebound and compression dampening seperately (some ppl argue that as being good, some ppl argue thats its bad).
