ok, so i got a 1993 eclipse 4g63 fwd 5speed, im looking to do some suspension upgrades, but i still havent decided on which setup to go with. im planning on building my car for street use as well as weekend track use at a local road course. my buddy told me, for cost effective reasons, go with KYB adjustable gas shocks with sleeve type coilovers, would this be a good idea, or is there a better setup? thanks

There's always a better setup if you have a few grand laying around (think JIC).

There's a very economical approach: KYB GR-2's.
There's a popular and streetable approach: KYB AGX's with Eibach ProKit springs.
There's a purpose-in-drag-FWD approach: Shortened Koni's in front with 2" lower spring and KYB AGX in the rear with Eibach ProKit (1.3" lower or so) springs.
Stiffer bushings throughout suspension will give you more feedback and control--especially useful at the track with turns.
Stabilizer bars (anti-sway/sway/whatever term you prefer) will give you less body roll and help you out in corner at the road track.

Cars lowered 2" or almost 2" with stiff shocks are harsh.

Personally, I woudln't go with a cheap sleeve coilover setup--they're cheap--you get what you pay for. If you want adjustable height setup, I would go with a setup that's built for that purpose--JIC, Tein, etc ($$$).

Some people like to swap back out to stock springs/shocks during the winter, to go back to stock height. That's something else to think about.

How much money are you willing to spend for suspension on a performance-limited N/T car? (I mean no offence at all)

I have the Ground Control/KYB AGX combo and it works really well. I ordered custom spring rates of 440lb front/375lb rear which makes for a bit harsh on a daily driver but perfect for all the autocrossing I do, and it didn't break my wallet @ $1000 including front camber plates.
I did just buy a Laser with the JIC setup on it and though I havn't raced the car yet it is a far superior setup than what's on my turbo car but a lot more money too.
