17's on a 2g gst

225/40/17 on a 17 x 8 wheel.

Actually I think 225/45/17 would be ideal. No need for a pricey 40 series tire on 8" wide 17s.

40 vs 45 would come down to ride comfort for me. I run 40's and they jolt more than they bounce. 45's would probably ride considerably better. I found that 40's are all that more expensive than 45's (few dollars per tire).

40s will F' up your speedometer. I bought my GSX with Yoko A520 215/40/17 and my speed is off by about 5mph. 45's definitly!

That's why I said 225/40R17....the 225 will have a little more sidwall than the 215. Basically, do a bunch of math and find one that matches teh stock diameter.

That's still off from stock size.. Go to this website:

The stock tire size is 205/50/17. With 225/40/17, you car will be going slower than your speedometer will show. About 3 - 4 mph.

225/45/17!
