ok right now im looking into buying a camber kit and either springs or coilovers for my car. i plan on making my car about 2" lower than stock height. i looked on andysautosport and their cheapest coilovers were some matrix coilovers for $205, but i look on ebay and found some $40 coilovers from racing dimension. i have about $400 to spend on springs and camber kit, and its so enticing to get the ebay coilovers, but i dont know if i should trust ebay or ordering online for that matter. theres a shop right down the street from my house but i think it might come out more expensive than ordering online. what do you guys think i should do?

Keep in mind that you generally get what you pay for when it comes to suspension. I'd certainly avoid any $40 coilovers, and even $205 coilovers would make me hesitate. I would focus more on custom springs (Eibach, Sprint, etc) rather than coilovers, unless you really need adjustability. Also, if you can do the work yourself, you can get a front camber kit, and use washers and longer bolts to correct the rear camber (search the forum for a how-to if you're not familiar) and save yourself a bit of money...just remember to get it aligned after doing the work.

thats what im trying to do, save myself a bit of money, and if i get the $40 coilovers from ebay i would be doing that, but i do hesitate on making up my mind on those. and im sure andysautosport is legit, and the company matrix is a well known company, but on dsm chat on aim someone said that his friend bought some $40 coilovers off ebay and said they work just fine, but i dont know if i should trust those guys. i would like to adjust my ride height, going as low as i want if i felt like it, but im really trying to save money so i can get a 1g awd sometime soon. but i will think hard before doing anything, but i need to get a camber kit for sure though.

I don't necessarily believe the "you get what you pay for" cliche. We've all got a friend that has a cousin the made a huge score buying something of value from someone who didn't know what he had. But in this case the vendor surely knows what he has. Paying slightly above scrap metal prices for suspension parts may sound like a huge cost savings, but from a performance aspect it's a huge waste.

well im not really looking for performance or anything. i just need them for the meantime until i can afford an awd dsm. i just need them badly because i need to take off the cut springs and get it lowered legit, and get the camber kit at the same time so my car wont be eating up tires the way it does. i think im going to go ahead and order them, its just $40 anyways. wish me luck guys.
