Sorry, I don't normally post here. I would like to get a little more exposure to this package, though, and I thought this would be the perfect place for it. So I'm posting something here that I brought up on our DSMLink forums a few days ago.

There seem to be fewer and fewer options in terms of suspension development for the DSMs. When it came time for me to replace my entire setup a couple months ago, I really had some trouble finding a good, relatively cheap alternative. I wanted something I could get some details about. I wanted to know someone was working hard on making sure the setup I chose worked exactly like it was supposed to and was going to work with me in the future as my needs changed. I did not want someone to just package up a set of shocks and springs off the shelf and send them to me. At the same time, I did not want to pay the full $6k price tag of a top of the line Penske style setup.

So I dropped Dennis Grant a line. Now, Dennis and I don't always see things the same way, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have some good ideas. And who car argue with a winning record? He knows how to set up our car. That's what I wanted. I wanted a solution that I could drop in and feel confident about. I also wanted to know that if problems arose or I had ideas for change, that I had someone to go to down the road. That's worth a LOT.

I expected to hear that he was way behind and had no idea when he could get something ready. Instead I heard they were pretty much ready to go!! Here's what I'm referring to:

These showed up right on time, exactly as promised, which again counts for a LOT in my book. I needed them, they made the commitment and met the deadline. The guys at ATI were always in contact and I knew exactly what was going on.

They installed easily and worked just as expected out of the box. Really a work of art if you ask me. Consider that these are the first units off their production line. They're still working out exactly how they want to package the thing up for shipment...and they installed and worked without flaw. Again, that means a lot to me. Oh, and they included dyno sheets for my shocks. Again, I know what I'm getting and can work with that in the future.

Now, before anyone accuses me of advertising for some free shocks, let me assure you I paid for these. And I'd gladly do it again. I want more shops looking to do things specifically for us and willing to put their knowledge to work developing stuff. We need that.

Of course, right about now you'd expect a big write up on how these things worked at the road course too. But, unfortunately, I had motor issues that prevented me from fully testing them. I did, however, get a good 30 minutes under my belt of hard driving and I can safely say these were behaving just dandy; certainly nothing was falling apart and the car was certainly not unstable by any means. I also installed a Quaife front diff at the same time, so the driver needs some more time behind the wheel before we can start tweaking things, but already Dennis and ATI have proven to be reachable and responsive.

So if you're looking for a complete shock/spring package and what it to work now and in the future, give them a call. I would love to see these things receive more attention and development. And the only way that's going to happen is if they start getting more exposure and use.

Here's what you get for your $625 per corner:

- A DG-designed, ATI Performance Engineering upper mount, featuring the high-quality (and thus, expensive) racing-series spherical bearing, nickel-plated 4140 spacers, and a hard-anodized CNC-machined 6061-T6 hat and stainless hardware.

- a Koni coilover kit, featuring a coaxial upper spring hat

- a 2.25" ID Hypercoil spring (600 front, 300 rear) with a helper spring

- a 2.25" Torrington bearing under the spring, to reduce spring stiction and make turning the ride height adjuster easier

- an off the shelf (ie, not revalved) Koni Sport, with an extra snapring groove in it to optimally locate the coilover sleeve for maximum adjuster range.

- a dyno trace for YOUR shock; not a generic plot

- a Koni bumpstop

- frustratingly precise instructions for sizing the bumpstop.
