all right as you can tell from the pics my car (or truck) really really needs to be lowered!!!

i graduate from college in under a week and will have more than enough funds to finally lower my car!!!

i need help in deciding on what suspension setup to purchase.

this is what im looking for:

1) Very little to no gap
2) The best ride possible for a car lowered as much as this is gonna have to be lowered

ive done TONS of searching on these boards and form what ive read Tein is by far the best, but i would prefer not to spend $900 on suspension alone, i would like to be able to save some money and put it towards a turbo and som Corbeau seats.

-i was considering a set of H&R race springs with Koni yellows but now im not sure if that drop will be low enough

-i was recently looking through the classifieds here and saw a set of NEX coilovers then did a search and saw some positive feedback about them

-then the next day i saw some Skunk2 Coil-Overs W/ KYB AGX Shocks (4 Way Adjustable) for sale in the classifieds too

i am in really over my head here and just need some direction as in what setup (doesnt have to have been mentioned here) would be the best for my car. ive searched over and over on the boards and ive read so many various things (the only one being the same is Tein is the best) that i feel lost

PLEASE point me in the right direction so i can go head and order some of this stuff with in the next two weeks

thanks

josh

Well I've got good news for you and bad news.

The good news is that there is a 2G suspension package that combines a proper ride and proper handling setup with the ability to drop the cars as low as you want (far lower than makes proper sense, actually) :)

The downside is that they're more expensive than $900 a set. You get what you pay for.

As soon as my boss pays for the forum sponsorship, you'll get to see what they are. :)

WOW...someone actually replied!!!

can't wait to see what it is you are talkin about...while im waiting anyone know of a good setup for under a $1000??????

I'm running H&R Sport springs and Tokico Illumina shocks. With the shocks set at #3, the ride is just as good, if not better than stock. There are before and after pics in my gallery, and the whole setup cost me about $600. It's down about an inch and a half or so, and I have very little fender gap.

looks nice...but i dont think yurs was sittin nearly as high as mine is now on these 18s... not sure that will be low enough...but it certainly helps thanks for replying!!!

Get an adjustable shock body length coilover (Tein/JIC/D2 (Dunno about these fully) /Zeal/blah blah blah)

I know on my JIC's I could drop my car so that the wheels will bang the fenderwells and I'll still have adjustment and travel to go lower. Not to say that I've done that, or ever wanted to do that.

Get bigger tires... add sand to both front and back of car, and cut 2 coils out of each spring... should work ;) ;)

the only way i see you being able to do this would be an adjustable coilover setup.. which is expensive. if you want a car to drive, rather than a car to look at, do it the right way, by getting a set of quality springs and shocks. if you have more money, then get decent coilovers. other than that, you'll sacrafice handling for "looks"

If you want to go lower but still maintain drivebility you have to get shocks/coilovers that have adjustable dampning. They can get pricey but your car won't feel like a brick on wheels either. Go w/ the tein, the basic you posted are not adjustable dampning so be careful. Good Luck ROFL

your the second person to mention D2s...i take it they are pretty good?

D2 Adjustable Coilover Kit 's Damper is 36 way is that better than the Tein Super Street with a 16 way Damper?

thanks

Just installed these on my car last week and I like them alot :thumb: http://www.hopupracing.com/toilse1dr.html , it dropped the front (2g awd is lower than fwd) 1.75 and the rear .75 which leveled the car and lowered it basically .75". My camera was stolen so I can't post pics but there is maybe an inch gap btwn tire and fenderwell on front and back and it is adjustable dampening which controls soft or hard ride, still feels like stock ride to me. I have a 3" exhaust so I have to be careful over speed bumps. I did it myself, cut the bumpstops in half to give enough travel and it hasn't hit the bumpstops. I think its the best kit for the price and you'll probably really satisfied. Some people thought I got new rims because the stance looks soooooo much better and meaner with my front mount :D . I'll try to borrow roommates camera to post pics if you want. Remember to get alignment with 0 toe also. Also never ever ever ever cut your springs to lower a vehicle :nono:

I have the Tein basics and like them. Look around for the best price, I got mine for around $650. That's as much as I would have spent on eibach's and koni, but I get the benefit of adjusting the height to my liking. :thumb:
