my rack is leakin really bad, i use a full bottle of ps fluid a week... so i was wondering if i could take off my pump, tie the lines off somewhere, sell the pump to buy a manual rack and then swap that in when i have time? would i hurt anything by just tieing the lines out of the way and running the rack without fluid or would it be alright for a while?

I saw the thread title was all ready for a discussion of silicone vs saline....

Sorry, I have no advice on your actual problem.

ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

Running the rack without fluid usually causes eventual damage to power steering racks. Best bet would be to keep it filled for now, and do the 1.8 manual rack swap when you get a chance. Otherwise, a remanufactured P/S rack can be had for less than $300 from auto parts houses.

well i've put close to 2K into the car in the last month and a half :notgood: and i just dumped my entire wallet and more into a clutch because mine exploded last sunday morning so i dont have the cash to do anything at the moment, but i should have some spare cash layin around within a month or so, so i was wondering if that long would be alright since i plan on swapping in a manual rack anyway once i get the cash
