Im in a desperate need for some winter tires. I have found a extreemly good deal on a 225/70SR16. Will these fit under my wheel wells? Will I have any clearence problems with the suspension? I blew a tire and I need to get the thing back on the road asap. The car is a 1990 AWD

Those tires are for pickup trucks. Stay with 205/55/16 for snow tires.

225/70/16 OMG

Do you realise that the 70 is the sidewall highth? (70% of 225)

If normal sizeing is about 40% of 225, imagine how ugly that will look on your car!

Stick with 205-215/40-50/16

On my 92 Tsi AWD run the Dunlop Winter Sport M3s in a 205-55-16s mounted on my 2G GST rims.

All I have to say is....they handle like you wouldn't believe for being a snow tire. Well that is why I orginally bought them. I wanted a snow tire with a high speed rating and good performance capability so when the weather wasn't crappy I could have fun. These certainly did the trick....but they are not cheap.

And yes as the others said, the size you mentioned is a no go.

I have LM-22 Blizzak 205/50/17 on my 90AWD, they are good. You can't put 70's cause you will way exceed the regular diameter (24.9).
