Same old question, will it fit? (tire/wheels/body fitment)

Vancouver,
Hey guys. I've been doing some searching around and I can't seem to get a concrete answer if the following combo will fit my 2g awd. So basically 17x8 rim with 225/45/17 tire with +40mm offset. My car is lowered 1.7 inches. I'm pretty sure it'll fit fine without any robbing but I wanna see if my calculation is correct.

Let me know.

It will fit, but if you adjust the camber to be within spec it might rub in the rear(lip) when lowered more then 1.5 inches..

Sorry to bring back the old thread, if you rather me start another let me know. I just wanted to know about the 40mm offset, the lower the number the more sticking out the tires or viceversa? I wanna know if i could fit 16x7 with a 40mm

So then would the 40mm offset be too far out, i know the 2g gst is 45mm. My car is dropped alot, the front wheels are tucked in and the rear are right flush with the fender. What do you think?

+40mm might either just fit or might require render roll. depends on how low your car is.
this is the scenario with an 17x8 inch rim and 235 tire (recommended to match wheel diameter spec)

What about if using stock size tires and and rims size, the drop as i stated above is front wheel is tucked under fender and rear tire is flush with fender.

Stock is +46mm, not +45mm; not that this really matters very much.

IMO, the best set-up on a 2G is 245/40/17 on a 17x8 +40mm with rolled rear fender lips (which is necessary after you space out the upper arms to get the rear camber down). One option, therefore, for people with 2Gs who are not ready to roll the rear lips is to get the 17x8 +40mm wheels and put 225/45/17 tires on. This will not require rolling, but leaves the door open to 245/40/17 next time without having to buy new wheels. Note, however, that not all 245/45/17s were created equal. For example, an Azenis Sport in this size will require rolling the rear lips, since the tread on an Azenis Sport is so darned wide.

You're on the edge. It all comes down to how many spacers you have behind your upper arms. None and you'll be fine. Enough to get a lowered car back under 1.5* and you'll need to roll them.

Yep ... baseball bat (or some such thing). Snipping the lip at 1- or 1.5-inch intervals helps, but you really really want to put some paint on there afterwards if you do this. And don't snip so far that you weaken the weld between the outer and inner fenders ... that's a structural weld ... part of the unibody. If that weld pops at any point, fix it.

jtoby: following you with interest in dsm autox group

looking at possibly an ADR fuel (nice subtle styling and supposedly decent weight) in a 17x7 +40 mm with for now 225/45/17 Toyots FZ4s (highway city family) but later I'd like to get a little more into a set of falken azenis sports for the traction in dry conditions...

Is the 7 size going to limit me to just a 225/45 or can I possibly squeeze a 235/45 on there to get back on spec with the speedo?
Its an AWd so the highway rpms at 75-80 are not minimal.

If you are really thinking about Azenis, then the first thing to note is that they don't come in our exact size. The closest is a 225/45/17, but this is actually one of the best diameters for autoxcrossing. The second thing to note is that Azenis are extremey wide at the tread for the stated sidewall size. A 225/45/17 Azenis is about as wide at the tread as a 245/40/17 Kumho MX. Therefore, when comparing posts about what fits with Azenis in mind, look for setups that work for 245s from any other source. In short, to run Azenis on a moderately lowered 2G, you want 225/45/17 and a 17x8 wheel with a +40mm or less offset (and a rolled fender lip in the rear). Yes, you can jam a 225/45/17 Azenis on a 17x7 wheel, but it won't be happy. The sidewalls are very stiff for a "street" tire and will only give you all paid for if on a wider wheel. In fact, there are autocrossers in STS that can fit 225s in their wheel-wells but only run 205s because STS is limited to a 7.5"-wide wheel and these drivers swear that a 205 have more lateral grip than a 225 when both are mounted on a 7.5"-wide wheel. It's that big a deal to have wide enough wheels for handling. Of course, those guys are in Hondas which don't weigh as much as a DSM. Given our weight, more tread might be better. But if you start making this that complicated, then I'd actually start pushing the Kumho MX, because it is much less affected by overheating than an Azenis and is also a tad better in the rain.

Jtoby, it might be advisable for you to be a little more specific. I also have recent experience switching form Kumhos to Azenis although I suspect a different size and type in both cases. I actually found that the Azenis I use are somewhat narrower than what I expected.

Obviously there are differences between manufactures and even among types within the brands. We all know this and many of us mention it frequently. I grabbed a bunch of tread width specs for 225/45/17s, most of them from Tirerack. I also took some from Falken’s website. Contrary to my expectation, the Falkens were about average in tread width, at least from the small sample I selected. Also surprising is that some of the 225 width tires ARE as wide as other 245 (not that I doubted you in the least). ;)

After checking lots of posts I could't seem to find any CLEAR info about this.

Would my 235-45-17 Pirelli Corsa tires present any rubbing with the almost same as stock offsett of 45mm on my Rota wheels, 17"X7.5

Quote from another guy:
"My 1995 GSX: 17x7.5 + 44 offset 235/45/17 Kumho 712 = 6.85 CS barely OK. This rubbed noticeably, although not prohibitively, on the rear inside link."

I know it is maybe the 2945784949 time somebody ask this but ever add experience with those wheels and thoses tires?

From what I've search 40mm offset would be best?

I’m not sure I understand your questions. You’ve got the wheel/tire combo you described mounted, it rubs, and you want to know if that’s? And you want to know if camber correction will intensify the rubbing problem? And if the answer to either of these questions is “yes,” you want to know wear to get wheel spacers?

Does this really fit with no rubbing at all? It seems like it would hit the inner knuckle. Can you post some pics showing the amount of clearance?

Didn't think you would. You like to post false information without any evidence backing it up don't you?

I guess my post was a bit too subtle for you.

I've been running 245/40/17 Kumho MXs on 17x8 +40mm for several years; this has been in my profile since my first day on this list and I have posted this several times since. I know that they do not rub.

I also know that you seem to enjoy being rude to me, probably because I often correct your erroneous posts. That you could not connect the dots that this rudeness is why I am not inclined to go out of my way to help you implies that other labels beside "rude" should also be applied.

There are consequences of being a jerk, even on the internet.

Have a nice day.

LOL @ igs.

Hmm sarcasm too subtle... make a plain post and see if he gets it that way.

Sorry that he had to embarrass you to get the point across... I got it and have been laughing since you posted.

You are and were being a little dilly prick, of course he is not going to go shoot pics and take time out of his busy day to "prove" you wrong. Why bother? then you would just claim it as a 17x7.5 or a 235 series...

Go somewhere else with your attitude, preferably a honda forum.

:thumb: Have a great day.
