I have a 99 eclipse gs, 16" stock oz racing wheels. I need to put on new brake pads. I want performance brake pads with little dust. I don't want to replace the rotors or anything. What are some good pads and places to find them?

Thanx in advance.

Porterfield R4S all the way. You wouldn't believe the difference....

i've heard good things about EBC brakes in general not just their pads. Nice thing about their pads is they make steps or levels of performance that are pretty clear cut and can let you decide on exactly what you want and what you get for your brakes.

Is there a VFAQ or something on how to replace the pads? I realize it should be pretty straightforward, but I know nothing about brakes.

[edit]OK, I'm an idiot-- I forgot about my shop manual. It does a decent job of explaining the procedure, but I'm still not 100% confident. Now, this "guide pin" and "lock pin" that are mentioned looks like the two bolts that hold the caliper assembly together, is that right?

I realize nobody cares, but I did my rear pads today, and boy do I feel like such a moron for asking the above question! It was SO fah-reakin' easy. I realize now why there's no VFAQ-- my kid could've done this. OK, I'm done, I just had to tell somebody. Sometimes this car makes it very easy to learn basic maintenance and repair.

here is ebc's ..... www.ebc-brakes.com

green stuff $69.00 shipped
use V4 formula with copper fibers in the compound which extends pad life and reduces rotor temp by 200 degrees F and reduces dust by 30%-70%

red stuff (fronts only) $89.00 shipped
used on the street on faster cars offers strong progressive braking up to 1,000 degrees F without fade, brake noise or rotor damage. IDEAL FOR TRACK DAY.

yes there a little expensive but you will def. feel the difference. i use the greens in the rear and reds in the front. they even make full race and circut pads: yellow, blue, black.
