I need some info-me and my brother our in the process of puttingf ina new clutch and oil pan gasket. We hit a snag-when we took the half shaft out of the passenger side ,we found out that the ball joint is shot.In the manual is says you have to replace the the whole control arm too----how much does this unit usually run and is it a dealer only item?thanks :talon:

I put in a Parts Store Ball Joint and the installation wasn't difficult **** BUT**** I found that if the Ball Joint is bad - in the way that you can spin it - than the material where it is pressed on the control arm is worn away ...... and a new lower control arm is necessary. But NO I didn't need to get both and NO I didn't need an alignment.

I got the control arm and sway bar link at a local mitsu dealer for around $150.00 I don't know if Conecelli was less or not ---- I wasn't willing to wait for the part.

Good luck.

Wouldn't it be faster to call and ask a dealer than to ask here? Try a dealer in San Rafael, CA. They are one of this site's sponsors. See the sponsors page for contact info. I belive they give a discount to tuners members.

1g part prices vary from source to source. Some charge at least x2 just because new parts are becoming rare. You'd have better luck calling than asking here. For example, if you go to parts.com, you will find a wide range of prices. Some of the places listing the parts you want don't neccessary have the part in stock or can get it. A lot of 1G parts have been discontinued.

Hi,

Go to Specialty product company, they sell aftermarket balljoints for $80. Let your old ones pressed out and replace them with the new one.
I have done this today. The local dealer pressed them out for me, no charge and the re-install is easy.
If you get new upper control arms, mine were priced at $220 each.

Make your choice!
Good luck.
Any other questions let me know!
