Im replacing both my ie rod ends (outers) I got a set of MOOG ones for $54 bux but was wondering if i HAVE to get an alignment.. or can i simply mark/measure and crap and get away with that. Im only asking because the local shops(s) all require appointment.. and none of them can take me till Tuesday.. and i wanna get this out of the way this weekend.

well i took the old out and out the new in and it seems i got it pretty perfect.. car drives perfectly straight still, everything seems to work perfect.. I didnt move the lock nutts so i sure that helped..

Your car can drive straight and be out of alignment. Toe does not cause pull problems. If you did leave the jam nuts in the same place and your steering wheel position is still the same as it was prior you're probably fine.

well, im gonna get an alignment before i get new tires again.. just to be sure.. no sense in frying brand new rubber..

Yeah, I went to get an alignment done today after getting my new tires/rims. I went from 16"s 205's to 17"s 225's. After they got my car in they noticed my tie rod end was totally shot and about to fall off!

They said this could cause me to lose complete control of my car. OMG

I didn't notice any problems and I guess my alignment was pretty off. Not hard to believe since it had been years since my last alignment. My cost through midas was $210 after $2O OFF coupon for alignment/tie rod end replacement. I went for a drive in the snow tonight and it made a HUGE difference in how my car handles on snow pack. It now feels sure-footed unlike before where it was very sketchy. Pretty sure that was because of my old tires and especially the tie rod end!

Aways have your alignment checked. Manufacturers recommend you check it atleast once a year. If your from northern states its best to check it every 6 months. I know around my area thats what I suggest due to the condition of Iowa's roads. Wobble do you have a local Sears, we don't take appt. just drive in at your convenience.
