hey yall, I got a set of rx7 rims, and I was told that they can hold up to a 245. The ones on there now are 225's. and the rim Sticks out past the tire tread. I dont like the way it looks.

Anyways, I wana put them on my Talon. but I wana get some new tires while im at it.

Are 245's to wide for a AWD??? Thats alot of meat for AWD, At least thats what I think.

Search is your friend.

My streets are 245/40/17.

My R-compounds are 245/45/16.

If I could jam some more between the rear knuckle and fender lip, I would.

damn if you fit 245, i think i'll go with 235's..

i wonder if it'll fit if i go with 235/40/18's though.. since you have 17's, i think you will fit better then with 18's..not sure

"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /var/www/dsmtuners.com/html/forums/search.php on line 408"

So Sit on it. anyone else with a postive Response????

2g diff from 1g I would not go wider then 235 also what is the offset of the rx7 wheels that will help to..

More offset will move the wheel in not out.

You'll need studs and spacers.

SEARCH.

You should've done it when it was first suggested. There was a thread on this very topic just last week.

sounded like what I said on the wheels

damn 50 offset I think thats going to be to high of one..the wheels will like stick in to much and look funny..

I already know about the spacers that not a big deal. So I guess Ill just have to run a 235. or 225. oh well. AWD has enough grip anyways.

If you are going to spend upwards of $1500 on a new set of wheels, do it right. Either get them from a reputable shop or on-line vendor or make yourself an expert. There is enough information on this site to assist anyone in making the right choice. Many of us have contributed and although I don't mind pointing a raw newbie in the right direction, one does get tired of seeing the same questions repeated so often.

Figure out what your performance, appearance, cost goals are, and what combination you think meets those goals, and I think there are several knowledgeable people on this board that would race to be the first to give you quality feedback.

Of course, there is the issue of turning to consider, where driveline type doesn't make much of a difference.

Also, 245/45/16 on a +37 or +38 is the standard autoXing set-up for both 1G and 2G AWDs. It requires a rolled rear fender lip on a 2G.

ps. used RX7 wheels are a popular budget approach ... they require a spacer and should only be used with longer wheel studs

I have a set of RX7 wheels that I'm giving back to the person who gave them to me. I decided I didn't want to use spacers and longer wheel studs. They won't fit without spacers. I wouldn't feel comfortable using spacers on the track... but that's just me. GRNDSM has used them and says they work fine. I believe he was using 225 wide tires. I wouldn't risk the 235's rubbing. Just get a good set of tires.
