hi guyz

I have a :dsm: eclipse rs year 1999. its mainly stock with a ractive muffler and an AEM CAI. I want to lower it a bit and I was told that use coilover kits it will be better and that way you wont have to get a new suspension. but I looked at some kits on ebay and I am not sure which one to buy b/c I think some cheap kits might break. I am wanting to spend $100-150 in range.

can someone point me to the right direction?
thanks

ps: Ive searched but I am not wanting to spend like $300 to get the top of the line springs. I just want something thats reliable.

thanks again.

Well if you want something reliable you price range is way too low.

hi

sorry about posting in the wrong section. I didnt see the suspension tuning section. but I just wanted the basic things that people have. for example tein or eibach. and also do you need the lowering springs too with the coilovers or do they just use the stock ones?

ps: I know thats a really newbie question so please dont flame me for this. I am still getting into this stuff

thanks

i agree with L2RTSiAWD , do not buy cheap ebay coilovers unless you want it to ride like a truck with a 6/8 drop, very bad, the lowest class setup i would go with would be the eibach pro kit springs which are around 200 i think , then Tokico illumina 5-way struts which are 380 , which i mean is nice , but not the best ofcourse , good for everyday driving, IMO

sweet.
Ive heard about those 2 but after reading up a bit. I am thinkin about tein s tech b/c they are good drop + handling?

what do you think

I've had the ebay coilovers and they are terrible. Ground Control is the lowest form of coilover i would ever buy again. If you are going to get coilovers get a true one piece with a threaded strut body. However, going with sprint springs and tokico HP struts (like i have) is an exellent choice. Heres about the price you would be looking at for this setup done right and installing it yourself:

Sprint Springs- $125
Tokico HP struts- $ 300 (or so)
DIY Rear camber kit- $15-20
SPC Upper Ball Joint Front Camber Kit- $125
4-wheel Alignment- $60

Thats a total of right around $650 or so. Don't leave out any of these or you will have install that part eventually as it will mess things up if you don't have it. This will give you an amazing ride as well as good handling and a 2" or so drop. And if any one says the sprint springs will sag, they don't. Not if you install them right, all four corners will be good. People say they are cheap springs but they are a decent stiffness for springs as well as a decent quality product.

I just recently finished my suspension and i love it, thanks to some kid i dont remember who gave me the advice a long time ago....

i had coilovers .... complete garbage... i ruined everything in my car...... I would highly recommend any one to do cheap coilovers from ebay on eclipse's... if you dont have enough money dont go for it... save up and get something better...

Well anyways i did 2 inch Dropzone Springs with Tokico Shocks HP.... very beautiful ride i love it.... nice and stiff... I was going to do Eibach springs which are probably better, but i wanted a 2 inch drop so i went for dropzone and some one recomended me to do it........ but anyways i just recently did i 125mph in my gs with out a problem, just scratch a lil bit on the front body kit thats about it nothing all....

just make sure if anybody does drop zone the small springs go in the front and the tall springs go in the back.... i kind of messed up LOL....

Paid $100 for the springs
Paid $250 for the shocks

Labor.... ~~~> i did it all by myself with lil experience .... rear is just 3 bolts and its out .... so easy....

hey guyz I really appreciate your help. thanks again. I will save up some money and do what ballin'gs said.

thanks again :)

how big a drop do Sprint Springs give? I am looking to spend about 250 (not including the price of install) on springs n shocks. I was thinkin maybe AGX shocks w/ either h&r springs or whatever someone recoomends, what ya think?

uh good luck finding springs and shocks for 250... thats what the shocks will cost you, and thats entry level. SPrint gives a 2" drop.

Go For the Dropzone Springs.... NOT COILOVERS THO

Dropzone springs are great .... wheels dont tuck in.... its about a finger or 2 .....

with tokico shocks hp...

(Make sure you put the Fat small springs in the front... and skinny tall springs in the rear )

My ride is stiff .... and looks great

Kyb ... AGX and all the other kyb shocks are garbage.....

Tokico are better and you get what you pay for... believe me...
