I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good tint shop in Austin. I just moved from Minnesota and I do not have a garage to park my car in, so I would rather prevent my dash and interior from getting damaged with the Texas heat coming up. From what I can tell it seems like sunbusters is well known for doing great work, although they may be on the spendy side, but I do not mind paying a little more if I know they will be doing a great job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

On a side note, not having a garage to work on things is annoying, my apartment is strict on working on your car. In addition I just moved down to Austin so I don't know of a good mechanic to go to either. If anyone does not mind meeting a new DSM owner in the Austin area and likes to tinker definitely let me know. Or if anyone knows a trust worthy mechanic that would also be useful.

Ill probably get burned for this but...

There's a guy at the flea market right of HWY 290 that does great work, i forgot his name and card but he did mine about 1.5 years ago and have had no problem since, he charged me under $200 for all windows limo tint (including sunroof)

Not to mention he's quick and he can also come to you, ill have to stop by sometime to get his card because i always recommend him.. oh and he's got a 1year warranty on his film/work

Cool! Any info would be useful. As far as tinkering, I guess I always enjoy checking things out and learning how things work as well as working on projects of any sort. Does that make any sense for tinkering? I mainly like to learn about things and work on things. Hopefully that is not too broad.

Sunbusters.
You could probably get it done cheaper, but will they be there if there is a problem? They stand behind the work they do, and I know for a fact they will limo tint everything but the doors/front window (since a meter can be put on it).
There are better tints for keeping the car cool/protected then black tint.

I think Sideways Auto Sound (??think that's right) on Lamar will actually tint the front window, as well as the rest of the windows whatever you want. Be sure to go up there to discuss though, since it's not really a legal option.

I ended up going with Sunbusters. They did a great job. I ended up going 35% on the drivers and passenger windows and 15% on the small windows and the back. I am not sure where I could go get my car inspected with out being hassled about something like tinting. Maybe if I get a doctors note I will get the fronts tinted darker in the future. I have to say though it makes a huge difference having the tint. I will try and post some pictures shortly. Thanks for everyone's advice!
