Check engine light states I got a knock sensor failure. Replaced it with another knock sensor but this time it's only plugged in and resting on the fender. Same code. I believe it's a wiring issue and not a sensor issue. Will it cause a problem if I rewire the sensor directly to the ecu? Ie run a new set of wires to the knock sensor? Pulled on the wires on the harness side and bare wire was pulled from the taped section.

The knock sensor needs the ground from being threaded in the block.
That might be an issue right there just plugging in the new one & not grounding it by installing.

Will have to try to install then. :hmm: alternator in the way. Will attempt a jumper wire with alligator clips to act as a ground temporary and rescan.
