Ok to start this off the car is a 91. I took the wire harness out since car was automatic. The previous owner put a manual in the car. I wanted the wire harness out of it to put in my 92 since im putting the auto in it.

I was told that the 91-94 harness has all the same plugs in it so all i should have to do is change the engine harness out. Well i was told wrong. Surprise.

I didnt think anything of it so i pulled every wire out of both cars side by side and started switching wires over. I knew i was going to have to rewire for the pop up headlights.

Well i ended up pulling everything back out to put it back the way it was. I didnt have any power to the starter. The car wouldnt turn over or anything. I had door buzzer that was it.

The Question here is after i put every wire back into the original car why is there still no power. The car had a viper remote start security system in it. Is there anyway that i can bypass the viper unit so that i can get the car to start with out it in there?

Not having power could be a multitude of things; battery voltage, connections, fuses, components themselves.. I'm not much help there to be honest, but as for the alarm: there should be a relay wired in series with your starter wire under the dash. Should be a black wire with yellow tracer, pull the relay from that line and wire the ends of the starter wire back together. That will bypass the starter kill portion of the alarm until you can get it working or removed. :dsm:

I already tried that. I know this isnt the right way to do it but i wanted to see if something else was wrong so i just wired a wire to the starter and hit it on the battery and it turns over. So i know its got to be that viper.

Okay. Removing that relay and wiring the starter wire back together under the dash should get you going then. If you want, I can snap a pic or two in the morning so you can get a visual of what I'm talking about.

EDIT: Or did you mean you already removed the relay?

i hooked a wire direct to the starter. There is a nightmare under this dash and i dont know what to do. There was speaker wire holding electrical wires together. I wish i would of seen this nightmare before the kid purchased the car. If you could take a picture that would be great.

You wouldnt happen to know how to wire everything up by toggle switches like a race car would ya? Thats about where this is at.

Ok I'm getting a few things figured out. Still can't turn it over with a key but I have to turn my key all the way for fuel pump to turn on. It has to be in start position in order to hear the pump. I don't think that's right.

Is there anything in the dash that needs to be plugged in to make it run? I don't have it in the car as of right now. If there is what is it and where is it located?

To my knowledge there shouldn't be anything in/on the dash itself.. Don't worry about the fuel pump, I scared myself the same way after my Walbro install. The pump doesn't activate until the start circuit is energized, afterwards I BELIEVE it tuns via signal from the cam sensor. (Not 100% sure on that though). Pictures slipped my mind this morning as I was a little late getting to class, I'll snap some in a few minutes for ya.

As far as wiring the ignition to toggle switches, it's not terribly difficult, but if you wire the "run" circuit to a switch along with push button start anyone will be able to start the car without a key. Not sure if that part is a concern for you. Also, to run it without the key you'll have to remove the steering lock from the column. I looked up how to do that in the past, but can't recall the exact process at the moment. If you're seriously interested in switch/button ignition I'll work on getting a diagram drawn up for you. :dsm:

I got it running a little while ago. I had to run a wire from battery to the yellow black wire on the ignition switch to activatefuel pump. Then i hooked it up for the push button so it now runs. I will now be installing a series of safety switches so they have to be activated to on position before the car will start.

Oh its not my car so I'm not to worried about the theft thing. He might have to be worried about me stealing it when mine keeps breaking down every other day.

So you hotwired it! ROFL I'd recommend running those switches through high-amp relays so you don't have all that current running through them, I learned that the hard way years ago. :ohdamn: Glad to hear you got it sorted out!

Thanks for your help. Now i just have to figure out how to get power to the headlights so they pop up. They turn on but wont pop up. I think im just screwed on this.

Well as of now im trying to find a wiring diagram also. It may help at some point in time. I have the dmm. I guess while i got all the wiring out of my 92 i think i will be taking care of the extra wiring and do a wire tuck.
