ECMlink ECMLink's HP & TQ Estimate?

It is pretty accurate if your info is correct (ie: speed correction based on tire size, weight, drivetrain loss) Use 0.00 for drivetrain loss to estimate WHP.

I believe it uses the change in speed over time to estimate.

My trap speed and 70-90 times give me a similar estimate for WHP as Link does in 3rd gear. Plus my lb/min also verifies another close estimate. I would say that +/- 5% is good enough for me.

This has been discussed many times before. Link uses a smoothed internally-generated RPM clock and some very sophisticated algorithms to estimate HP and torque. Given the right inputs, it is more accurate than most people would expect.

Regardless, the HP and torque values should be used as a benchmark for comparing changes in the tune; not as actual HP/torque figures.

If it does use change in speed over time to estimate the bulk of the power then that explains why 1st gear always produces erratic and nonsensical HP figures especially when doing hard launches or spinning all 4 wheels. I guess to really get good comparisons we should be using 3rd gear (1.1 ratio) and WOT pulling from 2500 to redline? I mean that's what I've been doing but sometimes I like to see what numbers the car produces in 1st and 2nd and it's always a mess.
