Hey guys, ive been keeping pics of this on FB, but i figured i could share it with the DSM world. Plans are to see how far i can push a stock 6 bolt, before rebuilding, and shooting for higher HP. Turbo right now is a PTE GT3582R. Manifold is obviously being custom fabbed by your truly, along with the tubular front Cross member/frame. Long term goal is a 9.99 or better, but my main goal is just a clean, well built weekend warrior. Im planning on tucking the harness, getting rid of the ABS system, AC is gone, PS is gone, All lines will be braided stainless (brake/clutch), and also tucked. Engine bay will be shaved/welded. Possibly repainted white, black, or just red again. Also planning to play with pump gas mainly. I dont have access to E85, so thats out of the question. Fuel setup will be either dual blown setup, with -6 feed and return, or possibly -8 feed, with a bosch 044 inline. Ill be happy with 500WHP, but will push it to the limits to see what i can make. Good thing 6 bolts are cheap ;)!

Anywho, onto the pics!

Also decided to get rid of the old "mitsubishi" and "GSX" stickers, as they were chipping and looked like hell, this is where having a relative with a vinyl cutter came in handy. Also added a little person touch to the "GSX" as my goal with this car, is "Clean N Mean"

The car made 545WHP before the tear down, Now i wanted something unique, and something i could truly be proud of.

Enjoy!

PS, Dont mind the front bumper cover, everything will be fiberglassed, with only one hole for the turbo inlet, and of course the opening for the IC.

Looks really good so far. Might as well ditch the k member and go all tube...good luck, you have got a lot of work ahead of you.

Thanks! I guess technically the K member will no longer exist. There will be solid mounts, and a solid roll stop in the rear, and if i feel it needs the front roll stop reinstalled, ill tackle that task as it comes. Ill probably end up doing it anyway.

Love the build so far.. You will find you do need a front roll stop..the rear one will pivoton the bolt if not and the engine wil rock a LOT.. friend left the bolts out of his front one where it goes to the front to back lower member and the thing rocked up hard on his first launch and knocked a big ass outward dent in his hood from the tial mounted on the t-netics cast T3 manifold

I love how you did the front area where you removed the radiator support and tubed it, I really badly want to cut my rad support off and tube out teh front section on mine but until i can get something else as a daily, i'm gonna have to wait :( If the docs can't give me hope of improvement in my disability by this summer i'm not even gonna be able to do what work i can at my home shop now adn have to break down and file for a disability check (been trying to avoid it for years) but then i'll be making even less and unable to get the Frontier i've been dreaming about for the last 3 years so i can turn the eee-cripse into a track only/weekend warrior car

Glenn, Thanks! Im a little unsure about the rollstop, as the other three mounts will be SOLID aluminum. The engine wont be able to move, However im sure ill see some sign the farther it gets assembled, that i may need one. I think i would be nuts if i were in your shoes. If i cant play, id be miserable. Ive got another GSX that has a bent up front frame, which ill be slicing off and making just the rad support tubular, which will be cut off right in front of where the radiator sits. (Basically where the bottom of the frame is spot welded to the "beams"), and i could easily make two of them. All youd have to do is cut the old one off, weld the new plates on, and bolt it together.

Kris, I just thought of what i wanted, and measured where the bottom of the bumper is normally, and where the original frame was, wrote it all down, and basically fabricated the bar, and welded it to plates. The car was cut off flush, and had plates welded on, that were later drilled and tapped and have studs in them. The entire frame assembly, is removable. So at any time, i can take the car clear back to how it sits in the first picture. Which ill be doing shortly, to have the bay painted.

Boost_freak, Thanks! Its a Precision GT35r

Sounds like it will make engine removals super easy!!! :rocks:

Keep it up man, I like how its coming!

Thanks guys! My main goal with this (beside making the manifold fit), was making the car easy to work on. One of the biggest goals was easy engine maintainence/removal.

CCK90, thanks! I thought it was pretty neat myself. Ive always been fascinated with FF turbo setups.

Paul, Im not 100% sure yet, been looking at a few options, but havnt decided yet. Do you have to run a pump on your crazy setup?

Both of mine were mounted high enough, so I just used gravity. I don't even know of the options out there for a small oil pump for an application like this.

yeah thats why i kept the turbo on my car little higher i was debating placing it similar to yours, although the cost of a good scavanging pump scared me away from the idea =/ but good luck! awesome build! bring that thing up to spokane wa sept 16th for IFO!!

This is an awesome build, keep up the great work and pics. What gauge pipe did you use for the manifold?

The manifold is made from sch10. Very heavy duty, weighs probably 20 pounds. Its a beast, but i didnt want it breaking while holding a $1200 turbo clear out there. The turbo will have a brace, but id still rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks!

Thanks Steven! Paul, thats exactly what i was hoping to see. I was looking at a few from summit racing, crazy as it sounds, id rather try my luck with the $90 unit versus the $500 unit. I guess if it fails ill spend the $$.

Anywho. Heres an update! Got the brake lines finished, as well as started tearing into the chassis harness, as it will have to be hidden inside the car. I also got the engine harness loomed, and mounted nicely on a spare engine, to see how it all fit and looked. Also added a few little cosmetic goodies. Im not one to go sticker bombing, but i had to add a little flash to it. They will probably come off later anyway.

Ill be removing the dummy engine, and trans soon. Then the next project on the project is engine bay clean-up/paint. Ill also making a few modifications to the tubular frame. Then it will be painted as well. As you can see in the engine bay pics, most of the holes have been welded, but not touched since. The manifold welding will also begin soon.

more pics to follow! Thanks guys!
