I just replaced my slave and master cylinder do to my clutch sticking to the floor. Since then whenever I shift directly into 2nd I get a little bit of grinding even when the clutch is fully depressed. All other gears are fine. Although if if I briefly put it into nuetral before shifting to 2nd it shifts fine. Does the master cylinder rod possibly need adjusted or is it a tranny synchro problem?

I have the exact same problem. Exact same gear and everything. only second gear. And it also does it only when the car is cold in the mornings, after about 5 minutes of driving, when the engine gets up to temp, the grinding stops, is yours the same way? How much does a 2nd gear synchro cost? Do you have to tear into the tranny to do it?

I also had the same problem - then it got worse. It would grind everytime i shifted under 2k rpms - then on the way to work, it wouldn't go into first or second. It would go into the gear, and when the clutch was let out the shifter would pop out of gear. I just dropped the tranny, so hopefully i get a good answer as to what happenned.

I'm also pretty sure it's your 2nd gear synchro....don't know how much one costs tho. As for the shifter popping out of gear, I had that happen to my 99 N/T about 5 times.....3 days later, Mitsu was replacing the trans-thank god I had a warranty.

I was afraid you guys would say it was the synchro. The bad part is my tranny was rebiult less than a year ago and the car has been sitting for like 6 months since I just joined the Air Force. As far as the problem stopping when the car warms up no, it does it regardless of temp. I have no idea how much a synchro cost, but it cant be cheap if the tranny has to come out to fix it.

Well if it's been less than a year ago, shouldn't it be still under warranty?
