ok, here is the problem. the tranney will not go into reverse. when i try to shift it in there is nothing there if feels really spongy and wont engage. Now for the weird part. When i hold it into reverse, even though there is nothing there,and let out the clutch the car doest move and the engine just dies out. every other gear works fine too.What do you think?

the 34mm stake nut is on its way coming loose from the 5th/R gear stack.

DING DING DING!!! we have a winnder, but the nut is 36mm you can fix it without dropping the tranny, just remove the end cover.. its near the passenger side, gotta take the plastic skirting crap out to get to it..

my 5th gear tried this crap on me a while back..

oh wait its a 1g, maby it is 34mm, dunno.. 2g is 36mm

make sure you picn that metal tab in better.. (youll see what i mean)

what a waste. just got the tranney rebuilt because of this and it still wont work. then my neighbor told me it was the shifter cables/linkage. so i put in new cables/linkage yesterday (took3 1/2 hours) to find out that that did nothing. so it still aint workin. dont know what to do

Your clutch probably isn't disengaging, or the shift cables are adjusted wrong.

Try to fix the little problems before you spend a ton of money on something like a rebuild.

thats the thing i already had the tranney rebuilt thinkin that that was the problem but it wasnt. i sat in my car for half an hour yesterday adjusting the cables(as much as they adj and it hardly even goes into fifth let alone reverse) and it still wont go over far enough or pulll the cable back far enough. i have no idea what to do next

did you accidentally get '90 cables? they have a different ( and wrong for your trans) bracket.

they hooked up exactly like mine did and fit just like mine did and im pretty shure it was a 91. what was SET3422 and WOBBLE talking about?
