well im getting my tax return asap and my synchros are shot (3rd mainly but im gonna replace all)

so far the setup im gonna buy is thus:

Fidanza flywheel from no limit motorsports ($285 with free shipping)
Act2100 from slowboy ($329 with free shipping)
TRE synchro kit for my car (145+shipping)

now, i CAN do all the work myself.. but as anyone who has a 2g spyder will tell you, dropping the tranny is a real pisser, plus I dont have a press.. for the gears/synchro work)

a dude ive known a LONG time who is a certified master mechanic with like 7 years at the mocal mitsu dealership has agreed to.. /drop tranny, replace all synchros, mic bearings and install proper spacers, replace clutch, flywheel and reinstall everything... for $150... even though i can do it all myself.. for a price like that ill just pay someone else.. my time and pain and swearing is worth every penny of $150

now, some people tell me the fidanza is BAD, that it makes the car harder to drive.. others tell me the only time a light flywheel is a problem is on low hp low torque cars, but on cars with balls it shouldetn be an issue.. plus bear in mind im setting this thing up more for road racing than for drag.. i like twisties better (oddly i hate autocross.. LOL)

any ideas, thoughts, comments?

Wobble, As for the tranny, if you have a good friend have him do it. Order from tre synchro, 3/4 hub slider (they wear, very good to replace), all new needle bearings and clips for the shafts and new end bearings. That should make for a nice shifting car. As for the flywheel try to ACT flywheel, should be a little better for then the fidanza, a little mass is always nice to have while daily driving.

I just dont like the ACT flywheel, cant replace the surface, its 14 pounds for my car, where is the fidanza is 8.5, i dont forsee any driveability probs.. now MABY if i had gone full out with underdrive pully 272/272 cams.. etc.. but i think i should get around just fine with just the lightned flywheel. THe only reason i picked the fidanza is because the friction surface is replaceable.. so i wont have to worry about buying a flywheel again. the weight was not really the deciding factor, im sure the act flywheel is dandy and all, but i dont wanna have to buy a new one in half a year..

I have heard the the Fidanza fly wheel causes the car to die if it is rolling slowly down hill or through a parking lot. Is there any merit to this?

hrrm, that doesent really make sense.. i dont see how a flywheel would cause a car to die when rolling down a hill.. sounds more like to little gas in the tank or something...

I know this happens with hondas. Its something they told us when we bought a toda racing flywheel for my buddies car at modacar. They mentioned how many customers stated that the only down side was drivablility at very low speeds and the engine would occasionaly die.

but then again, this was just what I was told.
