no adjustment on 92 talon shifter cable

when sitting in the car looking at the shifter there is no adjustment on the cable on the right. I found the pic on vfaq in the adjustment section but my 92 talon just has a cable with an eye on the end. Is there an adjustment somewhere else? Also the side to side doesn't center itself in the middle, it's towards the left so should I center the bumper or leave it where it sits?

Just leave it as long as it isn't bad. One of my cables has no adjustment either. Look under the hood at the shift cables. Sometimes they will have a adjustment directly on the cable. Probably not, but its worth a look.

no really wtf? i dont have an adjuster on my up down cable and i pop outta 3rd...... sob wtf?! the shifter arm clearly doesnt go as far as it should either. im really pissed. but with you guys did it come from the dealer like that new or did you or a previous owner have it replaced? damn does this suck.

I would guess you Set the adjustable Cable's Nuetral Position to match the Unadjustable Cable's Nuetral Position - No matter what Cables you have be sure & FIRST go to the Tranny & eliminate any lost motion - that is - bad Cable End Bushings at the Tranny Shift Levers, Loose Shift Cable Support Bracket that bolts to Tranny - then eliminate any lost motion / worn Bushings or Mounts at the Shifter itself - THEN ADJUST THE CABLE ENDS.

I know this is old, But Searching thru, finding ALOT of unanswerd question. ANYWAYS. This is what MAY have happend. The cable origonaly in the car Broke, and insted of getting the proper one. a 90 cable was put in.

I have a 90 parts car. and on the cable that connects to the shifter. Theres only ONE that can adjust and thats the Left and right movement. The other is a rod\cable. not the Lock nut and Berrle nutt thing that is on the 92's. every one knows the 90 linkage is shorter then the 91+. Get a 91+ Cable, and you will be in good shape.
