okay i want to change the gear oil in my 1999 eclipse gs 5-speed to the gm sychromesh because i hear it's the best. my problem is i'm not sure where the fill plug is for the gear oil. the only thing i see is a plug that goes straight down into the tranny. it's on the front of the tranny (the side closest to the radiator) and it has an electronic plug of some sort goning through it. does anybody know if this is the fill plug? has anybody ever changed their gear oil themselves? any information, or pictures you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

thanks that would be very helpful, but don't forget i have the 420a motor.

for the 420a motor it is BEST to use the factory tranny fluid... it's been proven that the factory fluid protects best for some reason for the chrysler motor... i used to have a 96 RS.
