I have a 95 gsx and it seems to be on lock. ive researched everywere but it seems to be different everytime. well the car wont move forward or back at all but when i engage the clutch pedal i am able to push it and move it. but no gears go in or they go in rough like almost breaking the gears in. Im really confused Im not sure what it could be, trans case diff... any ideas??I would apriciate any info, thanks guys.

So whats going on? your car will go into go into gear barly but wont move when in gear, but if its out of gear you are able to push the car? If thats the case you can rule out the xfer case when it goes the wheels lock up and wont move at all. if the center diff went out you would still be able to drive in most cases. I would check the tranny it might be fried. Try checking the tranny fluid to see if there are chunks of metal in it.

what happens is that when i press down the clutch pedal and rock the car it moves freelybut when the clutch pedal is out the car wont move at all. The gears go in hard to but when i engage 3rd it can be moved. im so confused.

i don't man maybe the clutch forks are messed up? one thing i am pretty sure of is that its some thing with the tranny

Sounds like you killed the 3/4 fork and it's locked in 3rd. Done any quick/hard shifting lately? When in neutral with the car running does it try to move when you start letting the clutch out? If it does then you need to replace the 3/4 shift fork and what ever the little chunk that broke off it managed to kill on it's journeys around the tranny.

im not sure because i bought the car as is and now im trying to figure out what it might be to start fixing it. it was stolen and im not sure if maybe the tow guys towed the car wrong or anything.

Drain your tranny fluid. If it is grey then it's a shift fork, thats been powdered. Get a shop with a parts washer to clean everything if you rebuild it yourself. I thought I had mine clean but I still needed new fluid a couple times to flush it out.

so do you guys think its the tranny, and definitely not the transfer case?? My pops rebuilds trannies so this would be good news for me, what do you guys think??

Well just for the hell of it trace the Shifter Cables to the Tranny - See if the Cotter pins are in the cable ends & afixing it to the Tranny Shifter Shafts, which BTW are in Nuetral when BOTH are in the center detente, SO>>... Your shifter should be in Nuetral when the Tranny is in Nuetral - Check that the Shifter Cable Support Bracket is tightly bolted to the Tranny so it can move the Shift Shafts when the cables move - Then I'd pull the console & do the shifter adjustment per the VFAQ...

BTW when I bought mine the rea caliper was so frozen you copuld not push it by hand in Nuetral - but we need to know if your even IN Nuetral - be careful & be patient... Good Luck & how much did you pay???

thats why people go to school!!! j/k my pops didn't want to do it so im selling the car after all.
