I was wondering if any body has ever installed new syncros or rebuilt their own tranny, or where i can find some info on how to replace my second gear syncro and where to get the parts? any help would be greatly appriciated!

I have EVERYTHING you need to rebuild your 1st - 2nd Gear assembly: ( 1-2 Gears, Hub/Sleeve, Syncro Rings, Keys clips,Bearings, 1-2 Shift fork, ect..) i paid alot of money for these parts, they are still brand new in the Mitsu Packages, if you are interested i will sell them to you for 250 + Shipping... It costed me over 550 bucks for all these parts, and i work for mitsu and i got a deal. PM me if you are interested.

The trans I have is out of a 1990. So will they still work? the problem Im having is that when I put some force going into second it grinds but if I just apply some pressure it drops in fine. and somebody told me that if it drops in with out grinding then it is not my syncro so got me wondering if I dint do something right when I installed this in my 91. and I was hoping I would of heard some stories on people who rebuilt their own trans and have had either good or bad results? thank you for your time!:talon:

yeah mine did the same damn thing. It would grind going into first when i was at a stop, and before that happened it would grind every once in a while it would grind going into 2nd.. Then it just finally took a shitter, and blew up.... as far as i know, the parts should work in the 90's

You work at Mitsu, you bought the parts. You SHOULD know what years those parts are good for. Don't sell the guy parts that don't fit/work in his tranny. Go look up the p/n's you have and find out the build date for em. Since you SHOULD know that the parts and build dates for tranny shit changed every few weeks, LITERALLY.

BLK91TSIAWD: we need the EXACT build date of your car to know EXACTLY which parts will work. Because the parts ARE different.

when i had my old 92 tsi it would shift into first fine but then if i pulled into 2nd real far back it would grind so i had that same problem then i would hit a blocker goin into 3rd at times i didnt know what to do so about 1 week later when i blew up my clutch (never dump the clutch in awd it really is not meant for that) when they installed a new one i had them double synchronize my tranny i dont know if that what fixed it but it went away maybe they fumbled with some other stuff but hey it worked sorry if my info was crap LOL

blk91tsiawd I have rebuild both front wheel drive and awd
dsm trannys. The symptom that you are explaining sounds
like a syncro on its way out. Most of the time when you rebuild
a tranny the syncros, clips, keys and bearings are all that
needs to be replaced, rarely do you actually replace the gears
and hubs. You can pretty much get every thing to rebuild
a tranny from TRE for about $400-450. Thats for all syncro
shift forks and bearings. I would open the tranny up and
inspect if it needs any other parts such as hubs.

But first thinks first did you try B&G syncro shift, or GM syncromesh?
Because both of these tranny fluids work wonders. I highly recomend
trying one of those two fluids first.
