Alright, first off, I have a 90 Eclipse GSX, tranny is stock to my knowledge, and I have an ACT 2600.

Thursday night, I was driving in third gear, and I accelerated fairly hard. When I did, suddenly the RPMs went way up, as if I suddenly dropped it in neutral. I pushed in the clutch, and then tried to push it into third gear, and it slid WAY easier than usual. However, I still wasn't getting power to the wheels. I coasted off to the side of the road.

I tried putting it into first gear, and it wouldn't even go in. Same with second gear. I then left it in neutral, and let out the clutch. The car stalled. It's like my GSX is still stuck in a gear. I tried moving it, but it just stalls.

Any thoughts?

That happend on my old BMW. It was a 1977 320i. There was a pin that that held a rod to the clutch under the car. I was stuck in thirder gear. Hobbled to a gas station and the mechanic there didn't have a pin so he took a pen and shoved it through the hole to connect them . It got me to the BMW dealership!

Probably doesn't help you but it's nice anecdote huh?

It sounds like a tranny issue. Check your cables for kinks or bends. If not that it may be a pin that holds a clutch fork, breaking and hooking on the outside when it pleases. A busted shift fork will grind all the time. But check everything, including master and slave cyliders before pulling apart your tranny.

i ahve the exact same problem. i have third (i am assuming)> i have third in the 3rd, 4th, and neutral position the rest are "dead" gears and kill the car if the clutch is let out. Haven't had anything done to drivetrain since june and all of a sudden it died. I dont think it is the clutch cuz it is still engageing and i was able to drive it home in third. was told it was the shift pin or something inside the tranny. I have it half out. any help as soon as possible will help.

I hear a lot about ACT 2600 doing hell on a stock shift fork. Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll try and get back to you all with the answer to the problem.
