Can I use the entire axle assembly from any other year AWD car?

ANYONE KNOW FOR A FACT?

This is '90 TSi AWD. Front driver side axle.

The cost of a remanufactured CV axle is not that bad - if your going in there might as well put something "new" in there. I just replaced my outer CV axle on the driver side. I take it your Center Bearing & inner axle is OK? Did the old CV joint grenade? Or something in the front end got really wacked? - breaking off the Center Bearing fasteners? The inner CV joint slides on the Center Bearing Spline a couple inches -there's no room for it to "slide off" - how did it happen!

I already found all the info. Part number for the entire axle assembly is MB526437.

It will fit 90-94 AWD AND 90-91 Galant VR4.

I don't know what exactly caused it to slide out or break out, but there's no way I can put it back in using hand power w/out disassembling everything. The car has Sprint springs and stock shocks. It happended after I shifted to second, wasn't even beating on it or launching hard--I think I remember I released the clutch a little too fast (CM #2500 clutch). I'm thinking the Inner (center) CV joint housing cracked or one of the walls broke... and let the joint slip out or something...

I haven't disassembled anything yet. I'll find out for sure when I do. I'm definitely replacing everything though. Piece of cake.

Thanks for replies.

Good luck bro, let us know how it turns out, and what exactly failed!
