limp mode?

Ok, i was drving around tonite and i went down and hill so i put it in 2nd(i have an auto) and nothing happened the thing is only workin in 3rd i did a search and all i found is that it might b running in limp mode and it goes into that from a problem in electrical system. I just finished painting my car and have been running it for 2 days and this just started happening i left it sit and cool down for bout an hour and it works fine now. Shouold i b worryed or whats goin on??

How fast were you going? It won't let the gearbox select 2nd if you're going too fast.

What he said. And Limp-In holds it in 2nd gear and will illuminate the check engine light.

i wasnt goin fast enuff that it should shift into 2nd i dont think but its done that b4 but it didnt go into limp mode.
