1st gen gs and gst tranny whats the diffrence

i was wondering what the diffrence is between the gs and gst tranny or are they the same

Im guessing that the gear ratios in the gst tranny will be taller. In other words if you put the gst tranny into a gs then it would take alot longer to reach redlines, you would need more power.

just make sure that the gs tranny says f5m33 on it. the only real difference is the bellhousing. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

my bad the 1g n/t 2.o and the 1g turbo have the same bellhousing, and share the same tranny code, some share the same tranny. i've seen 1g n/t with f5m22, but there isnt much of a difference. hope this helps. i got my info from the dsm cd manual. same part numbers

I had a 92 gs and put a tranny out of a 94 gst. I had to pull it back out because the bellhousing was a little bit bigger in the gst tranny . There were two other things, the gear ratio and late in 94 gst tranny's required a different axle.
