I had bought my 95' gsx 2 days ago and when I test drove it the transmission was flawless... no grinding or difficulty putting into each gear. I now have put around 200 miles on it and it has become very hard to shift into gear. I can't tell if its a transmission problem or just the clutch, so maybe someone can help diagnose it? Sometimes I will be able to engage each gear smoothly, other times it will be nearly impossible to even pop the stick into gear as if the clutch wasn't engaged. This happens randomly with all gears, where it shifts smoothly without any resistance one time, then suddenly grinds and is hard to shift back into the next . I sometimes even have trouble putting the car back into neutral. I am hoping that it is a clutch related problem and that a tranny rebuild isn't needed. One of the cylinders is bad since the clutch occasionally falls to the floor. Would a leaky cylinder cause improper engagement? Thanks for any advice

When does the pedal fall to the floor?

Hopefully it is not during a hard left turn....

Look under the dash above the clutch pedal. See if your leaking fluid around the boot for clutch master cylinder. Then check slave cylinder for leakage. Pull the boot out to see if it's leaking. Sounds like one is leaking.
