I have a brand new Auto. Trans. Is Is any one willing to trade? Plz dont tell me theres gonna be alot involved with the swap. What do we need :D

ok.... Now is this the same for 2g? Or should i just go with shiftronic? I dont want my wallet to become a pate.

on the page for the auto to manual swap it sez that you can now throw away tha auto ecu. but says nothing bouts getting a maual ecu. I ran n2 dis prob. cause tha auto wiring harness 2 tha ecu has 2 prongs and tha manual wiring harness has 3. can ne1 help.

You don't need a new ECU. The TCU controls the transmission, the ECU has nothing to do with it. I just finished doing the swap myself on my car. It's honestly NOT that bad. Just make sure you have ALL the parts. This includes NUTS, BOLTS, DIFFERENT MOUNTING BRACKETS. (Upper and Rear are Different on a 5-speed)

I see your car's non turbo, so there may be some differences

How much did you pay to go from auto to 5spd? How long did it take you? Thanks alot
-Rob

I'm doing all the work my self. I have a brand new auto tranny. 600 miles on it. I need a walk threw from Point A to Point b. As well as an estimated cost for the entire assembly. If anyone has an extra Manual Transmission that will work in a 98 GSX, pref. one that is rebuilt I'am willing to trade also with money down. Besides the Transmission swap and Pedals and all the brackets, Is this all that is intitled for the swap? I'am also considering Shiftronic. Should I just stick with the manual conversion? Will my e.t's be better by a dramatic amount? Is it best to build a Bullet-Proof Auto.? So many questions. At a dead stop, the auto takes for ever to get rolling. I understand theres no spooling until the rpm's build up. Is there any tuning that can be done to increase the time for excelleration. Other then Building boost. Oh and one last question :D, Is it posible to light all 4's? It only happens when its wet out, then fuel cut kicks in 3sec. later.

Pedals, Shifter,, shifter cables, clutch master cylinder, and clutch slave cylinder I got from a parts car. cost me around $300 bucks. (I'm sure there are better deals to be had with this!)

Transmission with SpeedoSensor, backup light harness, and all brackets. $1000

Hard Clutch line - 23 bucks from Conceilli Mitsubishi.

then of course you have the flywheel and clutch. I choose to go with a new ACT 2100lb and XACT Flyhweel.

Manuel Transmission STARTER. $50

so I guess the total came out to around 2000 grand, but I still have to sell my auto trans, which SHOULD get some money back. You may be able to get a better deal on a transmission too. I got mine at a recycling yard, and it came with a 3 month warrenty.

Something I didn't have, which you may want to get is the 5-speed inspection cover. I had to cut mine to fit around the slave cylinder.

Yeah im hoping i can sell my auto. trans. to help incure some of the cost of the manual. I'd part with my tranny for $1100 i paid $1,600

I just rebuilt my tranny (auto) like 4K miles ago, think I could really get over a grand for it?
-Rob

so do u retain tha auto ecu??? i heard dat u also had 2 replace tha rear differential. is dat tru

2 grand????
I just aqured a parts car with all the nessasary parts for $350 including a rebuilt tranny and great running engine. Got it at a bank (reposessed car)

Shop around and be patient, I got everything to do the swap on a 2G AWD for less than a grand.

on a 2g,other than the tranny,...would everything else be the same from a n/t to a turbo.. such as linkage, shifter, pedals, brackets?

To be honest, your better off just sticking with an automatic and using the money to mod your car. Ive thought about converting to stick, but I've raced eclipses with manual, and when i do the powerbreak thing i smoke them off the line and they never catch up. (but i have mods) Ive also raced an evo and beat it by about a car length. the other evo I raced beat me by about 3 feet. Once u mod your auto, youll be fine. :thumb:
