I have a 4g63t swapped Mirage turbo 89 that is about to have a major traction issue when it runs here in a few short weeks. I do not want to swap the motor into an awd chassis, because everyone does that, I want to be different. I know of two people, one for sure, that have converted their mirage to awd. Does anyone on here have any information, or contact info for the people who have done it?

I know the rear axles have to be shortened, gas tank relocated (prolly fuel cell in 'trunk'), new cross member fabricated, obviously an awd tranny, driveshaft, xfer case, downpipe, exhaust, and some chassis cutting to make room for the driveshaft. Does anyone have any more detailed info on it?

Here's a though; how about finding a solid rear axle off some compact RWD car and installing it? Your car already has a trailing beam rear axle, it would be super easy to weld shock and trailing beam mounts onto a solid rear axle and that would bolt right in. No worries about fabbing various frame mounts.

whats the difference doing it that way rather than just getting a 92 4 bolt drivetrain and mating it up?

theres a reason everybody does that...

AWD lancer notes
read everything on that page, and deside if you still want to go through with this.

One part of the convertion that makes it so tedious is that you will need to cut out you rear/trunk floor and weld in that of an AWD lancer :thumb:.

AWD Lancer? Where do you find that? Or is that your point?

I found that site during the months that I dreamed of converting a mirage to evo.

The page I listed is for 4g/5g Mirages, Im not sure how the 89's are different.
