Well I looked at a car yesterday it was a 1.8L - 2.0 Turbo conversion, and is obviosly FWD. Has a few mods, and he's running 18LBS on the 14B...

He says he keeps snapping axles ALL the time, and has put like 4 sets in... The car also has an ACT 2600 clutch in it..

I don't want to pick this car up if all its going to do is snap axles w/a hard launch.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

Never ever ever take on anyones project...especially to that degree. Keep lookin.

You really think so man?

Anyone who looks, please let me know if this is worth it!

Let me list all the stuff it has if you don't mind, and let me know if you think its worth the price...

92 Eclipse NT Shell (no power win, doors, ac, cruise, power steering) setup the way I like.

ACT2600 clutch w/500 miles...

Cyclone motor put in less than 1K miles ago.. has 30K from Japan, I will get pictures, been drivin on for 8 days total...

Wheels/brand new tires on it

Tranny is blown - will need to be replaced.

Boost/EGT guage

Lowering Springs

RFL BOV

Needs a paint job...

Complete 3" S.S. Thermal exhaust turbo-back (also been driven on for only 8 days - looks NEW)

Guy wants 1300.. I was going to pay him tonight - please give me your opinion!

FWD trannys are not as common as AWD and they carry a heavier price tag. Snapping axles is related to 3 issues

1) Crappy suspesion causing severwheel hop. If he's still on the 1.8 shocks and springs, this would pose a problem because it's not desighned to handle that much power.

2) traction is too much. Either the tire preesure is too low or running slicks

3) driver error

THANK YOU

Well, I know for a fact that he swapped over the turbo suspension, he had an entire turbo eclipse that was smashed, and swapped everything off of it to the NT. I checked it out as soon as he told me about snapping axles..

What are some other ways to cure wheel hop, or anything else that would cause things to break? As far as stabalizers, or a more expensive set of shocks and springs? And does anyone know off a vendor or sells beefier axles?

I know he was racing with Nitto 555 drag radials, and he told me that he isn't a very good driver... They were aired down to 20LBS. Thats also probably what made the tranny quit, along with the axles!

Well thanks for the help! And any other info/opinions would be GREAT.
