tranny or clutch??

i'm pretty sure it's the tranny but. i was driving and went to throw it into third gear and all of the sudden third gear felt empty and now the car is stuck in 4th gear?? it sucksss!!!!

It may be something as simple as linkage. Check to make sure that the linkage (cables from the shifter to the transmission) didnt come lose. The linkage has been known to back out the 2 bolts that mount to the transmission. You will need to take off the intake hose to get the best view at this.

Otherwise if its not a linkage issue then the problem is most likely in the transmission itself, and not the clutch.

ya i think it's the tranny too, the only thing still in my head is why is it stuck in 4th and there is no neutral? that's why i was thinking it's the pilot or throw out bearing maybe seized i had been hearing a whine for a while i couldn't place. but, no it has to be the tranny when i went to shift into third oh well either way it sucks not having my car and not knowing anyone with a car equally as fast that i can borrow.
